Thinking of getting a slendertone from www.slendertone.com and I was just wondering do they actually work?

    Thanks

That depends what you mean by work.

Do they excercise you stomach muscles? Sure they do.

Will this make you lose wight and have a rock solid six-pack? Not very likely.

The sales pitch is that if you exercise your stomach, the fat will melt away. The reality is that fat is stored in a predifened genetic pattern. Generally men put it on their stomachs and women put it on their hips and thighs. So if you want to lose weight around the middle, you just have to loose weight in general.

Now if you want to lose weight, you need a decent diet and some cardio. A few sit ups or using a slendertone type device will certainly firm up the stomach muscles. But they won't do much to decrease that lovely layer of flab that covers your stomach ;)

Just think about it for a minute. Your stomach muscles are not very big. They cover your stomach yes, but they are not very thick. So you are not using up much energy by training them. You train your whole body when you go for a run. You are using much larger muscle groups (legs, bum, etc), you are doing more work, and you are burning more calories. Buring calories = losing wight.

There are plenty of thing that will burn a lot more calories than training your stomach. Running, swimming, stairclimbing, cycling, even a brisk uphill walk.

I do believe that a slendertone or similar product will help firm up your stomach muscles. I don't belive that they will do much shrinking your waistline, which is what most people want. Only some sort of cardio training and a sensible diet will do this.

Now I have never used a slendertone or anything like it. I'd be very interested in hearing from people who have had great success using one.

Bit of rehab and lite massage go for it. Anything else bin it, it's overpriced anyway.
