DVD+ or DVD-?

    this is a genuine q, as i want to have backups of my dvd's so i can travel abroad with them and can afford to get them a little damaged.

    what media should i use? + or -, as I need to use them on a few dvd players.
    i have a dvd recorder that doews both and in cofussed!

    plaese?

    well from a pure financial standpoint, DVD- are cheaper, I had "backed-up" some of my collection on DVD+ and some on DVD- , the problem is that the DVD+ do not play on some dvd players , but DVD- seems to play on nearly all players.

    Personally I dont think either format will win. I think both will be used going forward. However DVD-RAM has no chance except for backup.

    Another thing to consider is some experts say +R is less susceptable to scratches. However as pointed out already it is not as compatible as -R.

    Don't forget capacity then (no-one else seems to remember the crap length of the betamax tapes for the first few years). By the time they were long enough to record a game or movie Betamax was starting to do its slow dying thing.

    But yeah, cost too.
