    its all in the title...

name moments in TV that made you cry or well-up or choke back the tears or something....

The last episode of Quantum Leap had me teary-eyed (i was something like 10 at the time, but I still think the episode was very sad to this day)

'Jurrasic Bark' in Futurama (the one where fry finds his dog fossilised in his old pizza place and starts to remember how he found him etc) the end of this episode had me really upset (Im a big dog lover), the music and the look on the dogs face and.....<sob>... Im sorry, i have something in my eye.... cartoons shouldn't be able to do this!!!!!!*

Also the last episode of series 2 of the office where Brent gets really upset about his job, it seemed so sincere....

*I actually do find it strange how a cartoon set 1000 years in the future about a loser delivery boy, a lobster-man, a robot, a one eyed femme fatal and many other bizzare creatures can hit a nerve more accurately than 99.9% of other realistic shows that i can remember (even quantum leap was complete sci-fi). I mean when has friends ever made you really sad? maybe its just me..... the office is the only believable show that I ever found sad, and even that wasnt as much as futurama did

Dammit! I was gonna say "Jurassic Bark" too! Well I'll also chuck in "Luck of the Fryish" when Fry discovers who Philip J. Fry actually was. *sob*!

Also in "Angel" when Angel has just one day to spend with Buffy before the day gets undone *sob*. Or in "Buffy" when Oz and Willow are breaking up :(

Bit sobby at the ending monatages in "Deep Space Nine" and "The Next Generation" too.

Also there's a very sobby scene in the new season of Oz - but you'll have to wait for it....

    Don't forget The Littlest Hobo...

"There's a voice, keeps on calling me,
Down the road, that's where I'll always be,
Every time I stop, I make a new friend,
Can't stay for long, just turn around and I'm gone again...

Maybe tomorrow I'll wanna settle down,
Until tomorrow I'll just keep moving on..."

    :(

Personally I have to go with "short circuit 2" when johnny 5 snuffs it after bleeding to death chasing Oscar or whatever his name was, (I think he was Bosley in the Charlies angles tv series).

Sad I know but It's one of the only movies actually that made me shed a tear.

It was on UK Gold last night. I have it on DVD but hadn't watched it in ages. Watching the final episode, you're waiting for a punchline somethere which never comes. Then it fades to the poppyfields in colour and you realise that that is indeed "it"

(until Back and Forth but let's ignore that for the sake of poignancy)

    Fine television.

Conair, at the end where Nicolas Cage gets to meet his daughter for the first time, that almost made me weep.

I'm not old enough to remember Lassie's death. Did Skippy ever die in a horrific road train collision? I'm sure that would have brought a tear to my eye.

Wishful thinking. AFAIK the original Skippy lived to old age in Los Angeles zoo.

I think when Dr. Green passed away in ER was very sad. My Fiancè was in bits watching that.

    Summer (1)

It is summer and Kevin is working for his dad in the furniture factory. He is getting frustrated and wants to take off with Jeff and Chuck on a road-trip, but he can't. Winnie, what's more, is working away from town and Kevin wants to visit her - so he quits his job and leaves town. When he gets there though, he finds that he is not wanted and that Winnie has fallen for a lifeguard named Eric.

    Independence Day (2)

After Kevin loses all his money and his car in a poker game, he decides he has to leave the resort - there's nothing to keep him there now. The next day he says goodbye to Winnie, punches Eric and storms out. Hitchhiking out of town, he runs into Winnie who has been fired from her job. They begin to argue and lose the ride they had flagged down. Later, sheltering in a barn they talk about how much has changed between them. Winnie thinks it's just inevitable - that everyone grows up. Kevin doesn't want to believe it and neither does Winnie, not really. They kiss, passionately. The next day they both return to Kevin's hometown for the last 4th of July he will ever spend there. Karen has returned home and she is pregnant.

In the end, the narrator tells us that Paul went on to study law at Harvard, that Karen has her baby and that he looks like Kevin, that Norma goes on to become a board chairman and that Wayne takes over the family furniture business after Jack passes away two years later. Kevin and Winnie write to each other every week for the eight years after she leaves for France to study art history. When she returns, Kevin is married and has a son. Kevin realizes that nothing turns out how you plan, but that his memories of childhood will be with him forever.
