The Last Words of a Betrayer

    Today I killed a man,
Not with sword or dagger, but with a kiss,
    A kiss upon the cheek,
How could I do that to a man who loved the poor, the sick, the weak?
Please don’t take him, Take me instead
I will return your precious silver; put the blooded thorns upon my head.

My hands are red, stained with blood, the wine from his feast,
I loved him so much but I loved him least
I cannot believe what I have done,
I have given them God the Father, and his Son.

I take my life to repent,
It is to hell not heaven I will be sent
I gave him that cross to bear he shouldn’t have to carry it,
I cry the tears of a betrayer.
My name is Judas Iscariot, I killed Christ.

Thanks, if your interested the idea came to me when I was in the National Gallery and seen The Taking of Christ However, I sure I'm not the first to have this idea I'd say if I looked there would be a few.

I have to admit I'm always fascinated by stories around christ and his followers. I remember when the TV Series Millenium did a story on the descendent of Mary Magdelen and Jesus. It was very eerie and very cool.

Same goes for Raiders of the Lost Ark and so on. Stories based around stories from the Bible always interest me yet I really don't believe in god(s).

I love Caravaggio's dark style, I always wonder if he had an apprentice fill in all the black space in his paintings or did he whip out the roller and slap it on himself??

Anyway, nice little piece, well written
