Read "The Blurb" for more info on most of the club's and soc's :)

I'm actually the Clubs and Socs officer for the college, obviously I'm not doing my job right!!! I write a bunch of meetings in the blurb every week to give and idea of whats on. The sports blurb takes care of all the sports clubs and i advertise the societies and activities. Theres 17 societies this year and about 25 or 30 sports clubs. Plus theres a few activities I run from the office myself like paintball trips etc. Actually I have to set up a team for the inter college paintball championship thing thats on soon.

Does anyone actually read what I say in the blurb or do they just skip past it. You'll notice compsoc is always mentioned! Preferential treatment there

    Cool, someone on the inside.

    Yeah, the blurb sucks.

And thanks for the mentions about Comspoc, but when exactly did you organise paintball?

    what's your real name nakedDex?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

We still do hand them out but last week there was no blurb and theres been plenty of problems with printers here doing it so we're thinking of outsourcing the printing. There's always loads of blurbs taken and usually we're out of them by tuesday afternoon.
As for the question of my identity, get yourself a copy of the Blurb and check the clubs and socs page! :D

dextor? the similarities in your nick just clicked with me and your evil trick of promoting the blurb didn't work!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

They only know of my real name. Until monday none shall know my TRUE NAME!!! mwahahahaha!!!

unless they look at the profile thingy on this

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,208 ✭✭✭loismustdie

yay - it's monday - i can find out your real name - my dream come through -

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

or just go to the topic marked "name, nick, serial number 03-04" and look. Not that I'm stopping ANYONE from getting the blurb

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,208 ✭✭✭loismustdie

it's about as much effort to get the bloody blurb but i'm not going to do either dex, k

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

Fine then, The naked guy keeps his anonymity!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,172 ✭✭✭Don1

Maybe that's just as well! I mean, it's not like I'd want to know many naked guys!!! :p

the homepage for the Clubs and socs is http://www.intranet.itcarlow.ie/student/ssindex_clubs.htm so i'd imagine you can get all ur info there, or from the weekly updates in the blurb!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,984 ✭✭✭NakedDex

All updates are available from me, the SU, the blurb and the sports blurb. The website is rarely updated. Also you could ask in the office in the Barrow centre but they usually send people over to me

what is wrong with you jenny youve turned into one of the idiots from boards since when do you care about clubs and socs

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,208 ✭✭✭loismustdie

ratman, what idiots from boards are you talking about?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,602 ✭✭✭ShayK1

Well If NakedDex is the Clubs and Socs dude then his name is Jason............ Happy now??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,208 ✭✭✭loismustdie

i didn't care about his name that much in the first place

back to the thread - it's for people to talk about clubs they're involved in in college to give other posts an insight into what's available to join - besides compsoc and boards, for those of you who don't have anything better to post than - "compsoc - ha ha ha spa etc"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,459 ✭✭✭seanos

Just to let you all know.

I've talked to Fergal [Head of Comp Services]
He didn't seem to object too much to the idea of *NixSoc [Unix/Linux Based society]
Still have to email him all details/information, what want etc ... but also have two lecturer's support.

So, hopefully have it running for the new year, anyone interested talk to me on IRC/pm or something ...

Not entirely sure what will consist of, but basic outline would hopefully be :

    Mail Account
    Sub-Domain [Web-Site]
Will be 2/3 *Nix boxes [starting out asking for 1 obviously heh]
    So Shell accounts [SSH-only]
Weekly, or bi-weekly meetings, hopefully get some *nix tutorials going on, given by different members etc.

If any of you know something specific or anything really about Unix/Linux based systems, please contact me if you'd like to be involved.
Hopefully getting willing members to give talks about something they know about, again starting out nothing too detailed as will want to get people to some level of competence.
Think lecturer or two could also be convinced to give a talk or two the odd time.

Any suggestions/questions, you'll find me on irc, or can email/pm, whatever.

Hopefully it will get going, and will have some interest...
