This should be interesting. Ferguson is an employee of Manchester United, whose biggest shareholder is John Magnier. Ferguson is suing Magnier over ownership of the racehorse Rock of Gibraltar. How is Fergusons position as manager of Manchester United tenable under these circumstances?

Magnier holds about an 11% shareholding in Manu. Fergusons position is not in threat. What this "court case" will do is to expose the huge (tax free) gains available to studs. Rock of Gibraltor would be looking to cover about 120 -140 mares. At a cover charge of about €40,000. All tax free. And only 6 months work. Then off to Australia with him for another 100 shags at about €25,000 a cover. Thats a lot of cash. Again tax free.

While it is true that the horse ran in Fergusons' colours, he actually has no "right of ownership" from a strictly legal point of view. However, in their infinite wisdom, the courts may decide differently.

The more money Ferguson makes, the more whiskey he downs, and consequently, the more purple his shnoz becomes.

I understand that Magnier belived Fergie was getting 5% not 50% of Rock...why was'nt any of this written down or is everything still done with a "spit in the hand" and shake on it mentality.

    Mike.

ps why is the RTE news site so ****e? That story tells you bugger all bar the bare essentials...

    Mike.
