    hi all,

ive been ringing around the video shops i know of in Dublin(chartbusters, xtravision, movie magic) and it appears none of them will be stocking TTT for rental.

They say this is because of the 4 cd format and the lack of interest.

Does anyone know of a video shop in Dublin that will be offering it for rental?

    thanks for your help,

    crol

AFAIK it will not be available for rental anywhere due to the reason they gave you , i have a family member who manages an xtravision store and he inquired on my behalf

thanks for getting him to inquire banzai!

i can understand the whole packaging problem, however i only really want to see the extended film which is on the first 2 dvds!

I suspect many other potential customers would also be happy with just the first 2 dvds, but i would guess the licensing forces shops to give people all or nothing.

    thanks again,

    colm

Chartbusters in Tallaght has the Fellowship 4 disc set for rental. It has lots of boxed sets for rental actually.

They might change their mind if it starts selling well when it's released tomorrow...

It's out today, just got it in HMV Grafton St.

They're not interested in renting it, I would imagine, because it would be very hard to watch the entire film and all the extras in one go, you'd want to be very committed to do that :)

How much was it in HMV? Save myself ordering it off the net if it's not ridiculously expensive as I guess it will be! :p

Net release date is tomorrow. Well done on getting it today.

Incidentally, if you buy the Gift Set then you can get Fellowship for £1. Considering they ship for free, its a pretty sweet deal.

when the extended edition of FOTR first came out, laser in ranelagh and georges st had the 4 discs on rental, but you got it for 2 days instead of the usual one. i can only assume that they'd have the two towers now it's out. i did see FOTR in chartbusters in ballinteer, but that was ages after it was released, maybe they were seeing how it would rent??

They are only allowed to stock rental copies. If they caught with retail copies available for rent they'll get in a lot of trouble. So, unless there is a rental version of the EE they're not allowed rent it afaik.
Happened with Training Day, and Chartbusters got into trouble for stocking retail versions for rent.

laser claim they will be stocking it but dont know when they will be getting copies in.

HMV suck. You can get the Collector's Edition for the price of their generic Extended Edition. And the collector's edition has pretty precious things with it...
