    Folks,

I was just reading in a different thread that since netsource have started to introduce caps (16gb per month ) that the ping times have decreased dramatically. So for all the netsource users can you give me an idea what your experience is recently with gaming??

I know 4/5 months ago that it was cronic but has the slapping of certain peoples wrists had an affect on the service that other users are recieving??

BTW - i'm on the SCRD so anyone who's nearby let me know how you are getting on...

I'll let you know more precisely later but I've found it intermittent still. Sometimes the pings are great but pages can still take a fcuked up amount of time to load, esp. in the evenings.

If you haven't signed up by now btw, you're too late...

Have to say gaming pings are alot better now. Day and night usually between 40-70ms which is a far cry from the 200+ms Netsource condemned you to at nighttime. This is my final month with them so all in all still even the improvement still glad to be leaving.

Well I don't play much games online anymore, so I haven't monitoring them too closely, but I haven't seen a single ping over 30ms to boards.ie in the last week. Average at about 23ms. Even at the weekend and evenings.

Slightly off topic, i just tested the pings to boards.ie and got an average of 396ms

I'm on eircom ISDN..... eircom used to be ledgend for their pings....maybe its just an off day...it was 43ms last night.

For me the pings improved dramatically over the last couple of weeks, to the extent that I'm getting 30-40ms off jolt all the time (famous last words).

    For example now...

Pinging www.jolt.co.uk [195.149.21.11] with 32 bytes of data:

    Reply from 195.149.21.11: bytes=32 time=40ms TTL=55
    Reply from 195.149.21.11: bytes=32 time=40ms TTL=55
    Reply from 195.149.21.11: bytes=32 time=30ms TTL=55
    Reply from 195.149.21.11: bytes=32 time=40ms TTL=55

A few weeks ago this would have been solid 170s - 200s at this time of the evening (and weekends) but has been consistant over the last couple of weeks. Hope if keeps that way :D.

Its not just you. For me pings are spiking regularly and i get packet loss a fair bit too. I don't get pings that bad usually but it can go from 50-300. Last night my ping just kept climbing in games, usually reaching 700-800 then falling back down and major spikage like that every few seconds for the whole time.

Yep, last couple of weeks Netsource pings have been stable and low:

Well.... this keeps me in the dark about who to choose. Netsource seems to be getting some teething problems out of the way but i wouldn't want to spend money on an installation for netsource and then tell em to feck off 3 months later.

I think i'll play it safe and go with IOL.....8gb is reasonable and most people have decent things to say about them.

Except for the fact everyone forgot to inform you that netsource no longer accept residential customers. So you'd have been wasting your time anywho.
