Boot up time & usb device

After turing on a pc, the system takes about 2 minutes to get past the POST messages. This is before it even detects the CPU. Does anyone know what would cause this?

Also there is a usb mass storage device listed in device manager as having no driver. I think this is the flash reader but I've installed it's drivers from the cd (it's a setup.exe) but device manager still can't find the drivers.

    Any help appreciated.

are there any beeps in bios? maybe there is a switch in a bios for fast boot, and full boot

why do you try to install a driver from device manager, and maybe you have a printer with flash card reader?

Did it always do that? If so, check the BIOS settings. Sometimes POST checks every single bit of memory. There should be an option for fast boot or similar.

If not, what OS are you running? Try doing a search on http://support.microsoft.com

[edit: Actually POST doesn't involve the OS. Maybe some of your memory has become corrupt? Try removing one stick at a time then progress to removing PCI cards to root out the cause. Also try removing any extra devices like hubs/printers etc one at a time and booting.]

    It is what it's.
