I was just wondering what the best word processing packages are within Linux. Which are the easiest / cheapest???

Also for windows converts - is word available???

Apologies if this is discussed in previous threads.

Open office is a FREE (as in speach & Beer) Word / Excel / Powerpoint clone.

Look and feel is as close as you can get without getting sued - you can get it to save in office 97 formats by default too.

And you can get a windows version.

You need to install a Java Runtime Environment *before* you install OpenOffice.org. (java.sun.com)

OpenOffice is a nice piece of software though.
