Prince Charles Scandal - Why can't RTE report the details?

Was just wondering why can't an Irish TV station report details on something like this just because of a court injunction in a different country? Surely british court injunctions don't apply here?

This might be more appropriate in a different board but I'm not sure where...

Probably in part because RTE is available in the north. Maybe also because not too many people here give a **** about it.

Didn't stop them taking joy in referring to Peter Mandelson being gay when the BBC couldn't or wouldn't report it (wouldn't IIRC)

Is RTE available on NTL in Belfast?

Yes, you can get RTE in Belfast on NTL.

Don't forget the liable laws here are stacked against the media.

Goodmans have only recently dropped a legal action against RTE started back in the 1980's.

Charles allegedly got caught in bed with a royal member of staff by either Princess Di or another member of staff. IIRC the Thieving Butler had some sort of evidence of this so, just before he went down for the crime, he blackmailed Charles who then got the Queen to drop the thievery charges by saying that Di had given Thieving Butler the allegedly stolen items. Allegedly.

Think that was just a BBC policy thingy, not actually due to any form of court injuntion

Here's what popbitch had to say during the week (popbitch was even mentioned in the Observer today in passing):
    >> Happy Finish for the Monarchy <<
Can't a Prince get relief these days?

Poor Prince Charles. That ghastly butler is
going around telling tales, and everyone says
that Burrell has other stories that will bring
        down the Monarchy.

Surely they can't be referring to Charles
getting "happy finish" massages from his
valet? Charles is a product of Britain's
boarding school system, so it's only natural
that from time to time he'd ask the servants
to apply some spit and polish to his
        crown jewels.

From The Observer earlier this year:
"An embarrassed St James's Palace official
suggested after the Burrell trial that Fawcett
was on leave. However, colleagues say he has
just been 'keeping his head down'."

Totally off-topic but they also said
    >> Sex Degrees of Prince Charles <<
Follow the sperm from father to son

Prince Charles was reluctantly married to...

Princess Diana, who had sex with...

Bryan Adams, who had it off with...

        Tara-Palmer Tompkinson, who de-virginised...

        ...Prince William!

(FYI: Bryan Adams is rumoured to possess an
    oversized wang)

wtf, i thought popbitch was still on holiday.

Myself and mate stopped getting it at the same time. Do you have to re-subscribe yearly now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,608 ✭✭✭✭sceptre

I've only had to subscribe the first time AFAIR. I think there may have been a gap of a week at the start of the year when they were actually on holiday but it's been clear rumour and entertainment filth since.

    Emmm because its tabloid trash.

    Why don't TV3 report it!!!

and should not be a main news story in Ireland.

In fact TV3 did report it yesterday on David McWilliams show Agenda (which is generally quite a good programme).

It was reported, in some detail, in The Sunday Herald .However the report has been withdrawn from their web site because of an injunction.

Any paper outside the UK can print the allegations as long as the paper is not available in the UK. So national editions of Italian papers can print it but not their international counterparts. As the web sites are accessible in the UK they can't print them either.

It's a bit daft because we all know by now what they can't print :D

bit stupid that a UK court can censor websites from other countries
