If you don't have much room on your disk, be aware that the housekeeping will not take place if you are using instant rewind or live pause. You may loose what you are watching.

    Deep sigh  :D

If you schedule something to record and you run out of disk space Sky+ will delete an older programme. It will first delete a viewed programme and then the oldest recorded programme. If you have selected the keep option the programme will not be deleted. You can also turn this "housekeeping" off.
    Very clever, eh?

However if you have paused a programme and you run out of disk space you will get a message saying something like "No disk space left - unable to continue live pause".

    Clear as mud :D:D:D.

You still on the default 40GB drive Shane?

I have had no problems at all since upgradeing to the 120GB, but it is quite hard to run it out of space.

I currently have 3 pages worth of films and about 25% free.

    SKY+ model: V2
    Make: Maxtor
    Size: 120Gb
    Speed: 7200rpm
    Model: 6Y120L0
    Works: Yes
    How Long For: 4 months
    Comments: No Noise

If you get this drive make sure you use the applications available on the Maxtor site to turn off write verify and seek mode to quietest.

Yep still on the standard disk. Will stick with it for another while. More important things to get, like groceries, beer, etc...

Does the Hard Drive have to be formatted in a special way? FAT, FAT32 etc or does the Sky+ box do any formatting that's needed?

I connected it up to a PC to run the apps from Maxtor, but I did not format or fdisk it before putting it into the sky+ box.

It took a few mins to come on, bit having rebooted a few times since, it seems no longer than a normal reboot.
