    Hi guys,

I have to do 6 months work experiance as part of my course in Carlow come January. I am currently studying CW888 (an Accelerated course in Information technology in IT Carlow)

Basically its a course that teaches loads of stuff about pc's.. ie databases, hardware, networking, multimedia, training and support, VB ect... it is suppose to help you choose your path in computers.

I havent a clue what type of job i want to do as my work experiance my course is suppose to organise the work experiance but if you know any companies that take on students on workplacements and the pay is good will you let me know.

or if any of ye have done the course and went on work experiance who would you recommend .

Personally I wouldnt expect good pay as that comes with
    knowledge and experience.

The key here is to get good experience and make sure you learn
as much as possible in those six months that you're there.

From my days in college I remember guys who used this 6
months as an excuse to go on the piss and basically do f*ck all...

Depending on what impression you make, you never know, they
might offer you a full time position in the future if you make the
    right impression.

Chances are your work experience will be unpaid. They might give you a bit of pocket money for travel or lunch, but be prepared for no money.
I did a five-week work placement after a similar sort of course, and they kept me on - I've been here for like a year and a half now. I was lucky - they gave me €100 a week for my work experience!
And ToxicPaddy is right - lots of people do no work in their work experience, they just go out and get boozed and stuff. But that's what college is for! Don't waste the experience; really, in a lot of cases people are kept on.
Also, don't limit yourself to looking at just IT companies. I work for a print company, and I look after all the PC's, the network etc., plus I do some web design and web development with ASP. So have a look around, plus give your CV to family and friends, and just see what's out there without limiting yourself.
    Good luck!
