Camera Case Help

    Hi there,

I'm looking to buy the Canon EOS 300D from NYCameras (with the optional lens included).

I want to buy a bag for it, but want it to fit snugly, so the bag isn't 10 times bigger than the camera and lens. I've had a look at the cases on the site, and can't seem to tell which fits what?

Does anyone know which case would be most appropriate for this camera?

    Thanks in advance.

Go into some of the camera shops here and try some out to which is the best fit.
If you're in Dublin, try Gunn's (Camden Street) or Dublin Camera Exchange (George's Street).

If after finding the best fit it seems expensive simply take note of the make/type and order online.

    Visit www.tamrac.com or www.lowepro.com

Pick out which one best suits and then try and find it on NYCamera.

You didn't say what kind of bag you need...?

Is is just for the 300D and a lens?
If yes, I have this one http://www.lowepro.com/pages/series/toploads/top_one.htm
and I'm very happy with it, I'm using it when I want to carry my D30 with only one lens. It can fit the D30 with my 80-210mm.
There's a pocket inside for the memory cards.
You can carry it with the shoulder trap or with a belt (for example with a backpack's waistbelt).

I have also a Canon backpack (I bought it in a shop in Germany, and couldn't find any URL for it), with 2 parts:
-the bottom for lenses or camera
-the top for other stuffs (food,...)
-and a lot of small pockets everywhere...
This is the bag I use if I want to carry everything but don't need to stop very often to change lenses or grab accessoiries...

And I have a simple shoulder bag when I want to move and be able to change lenses very often...

Depending on your need you might have to get more than one bag!

And I'm thinking about a hard case for when I'm travelling (the one with foam to cut to fit your gear).

Am I the only one who feel that you need to have more than one bag?

Yeah I want one of those too. NYCameras seem to be the cheapest at the moment.

I have a Lowepro TLZ mini. This fits the EOS 500N with 28-80 lens perfectly. As snug as you will get. Having seen the 300D in the shops, it seems to be the same size as the 500N. This bag has a belt loop, a handle and shoulder strap. There is a zip pocket in the front, and a small zip pocket inside under the top of the bag. No room for external flashes or extra lenses, but perfect for just the camera, memory cards, batteries and maybe some filters.

I bought the case about a year ago from Miniphoto in Lucan. Other bags in that range can take longer lenses.

I do tend to throw the camera bag and a few other pieces (flash, chargers etc) into a small ruck sack to avoid getting mugged, but the Lowepro bag is still worth it for the padding.

Cheers for all the replies. Appreciate them :)

That Lowepro TLZ mini sounds like what I need. I will go and try them out beforehand though, like suggested.

    innisfree,

Just wondered - did you get the 300D from NY-Camera ? I ordered one about a week ago but no sign yet ...

Not yet, hoping to order it next week (and get it before mid December).

If I were you, I would order it as soon as possible. I reckon there will be a big Christmas demand for the 300D.
I would also advise ringing NY Camera before you order, just to make sure they have stock.

They don't have stock! They just came back to me ... they hope to have stock this month!

I didn't even think of stock levels and Christmas. Thanks for the warning.
By 'this month', they mean getting more in November, right?
