Net Buys of New Releases

Whats the deal with buying a new release from the net?
Will i get it on the day of its release or is it only shipped on that day?

If i have to wait a week or so I might spend the extra and just go into town instead.

It's usually sent out on the release date. If you recieved it before the release date it kinda defies having a release date, since it voids itself.

Buy a region free DVD player, and get the Region 1's before they even hit the big screen.

I got Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon from Asia before it hit Europe and I think the States too. It was subtitled in the cinema when it was released, but you could choose to have subtitles on the DVD.

It depends where you buy it from. Most sites (for most releases) will ship on the day of release but there are a few that ship early so you get it on the official release date.

Is this something to do with LOTR then?:D

no, actually, its to do with Futurama, I might be as well to go into town and buy it..

If it's season 4 you're after (out on the 24th I think), if you order from cdwow (45 euros on the Irish site, probably cheaper on the HK site (it's 30 quid or 42 euros on the UK site)) before the release date, chances are it'll be here about two or three days after the release date. Doubt HMV will have it for 45 euros somehow.

thats a good point, given that they were selling season 1 or 2 for something like €65 not so long ago

Speaking of LoTR, I expect dvdsoon to be posting it out shortly. They usually get pre-orders out well before the offical release date.
Hopefully my uncut r1 version of Ichi will be going out soon too. Both released officially 18/11.
