SKY+ outside Ireland

Has anyone taken Sky+ outside Ireland.

Is the phone connection in theory obligatory?

Does it work without the phone connection?

Does it need to be activated in Ireland before sent/taken out?

Do we need to pay the installation fee automatically or can the box be bought and then card changed over?

2. In thoery but in practice not so far

3. yes so far it works

4. not necessarily but I would recommend it

5. its not necessary to pay the installation fee, I've sold them without quad if the customer already had one.

when i was pairing my sub card with the Sky+ box the woman on the phone asked me if my phoneline was connected. i thought i was screwed so i asked her if it was mandatory. she said no if i bought it independently (ie. not from Sky)
