have a 7650 and the new quicktime pro

with the new quicktime it can convert movies and chips to 3GP format and mos of the time they are small enough to cop to the phone but for some reason the phone says that it cannot play the movie :(

my little sister has a 3650 (she won it with the first bottle of coke she bought in years)(i hate her) the clips play fine on that. she is going around showing all her friends the new matrix and return of the king trailers(really hate her)

as far as i know both phones use the same format for 3GP

what i want to know is why they will not play on my 7650
    any help would be great
    thanks

do you have the nokia video recorder on your phone? its an addon to get. i got it to test it a while back. the problem with the nokia 7650 is the limited memory. after installing the video recorder on your phone, and as long as you havent anything else on it, you have about 2-3mb of memory left. not a lot of video there. thats why the 3650 came out: extra memory. the 16mb card is handy for videos. you could put a simpsons eppisode on the 16mb card, or a few on a 128mb card. nokias website has the software. check it out there.

Does the 3GP Converter Come automatically installed with Quicktime Pro or must it be downloaded after?

    Thanx

if i remember correctly, its an addon. could now be part of quicktime 6.4, but it was an addon to 6.1 or 6.2.

yep i have the video recorder (man i am not that stupid) i have the phone near a year now

the 3GP is an addon for quicktime you need to download quicktime then pay for the upgrade code to unlock all the hidden stuff Cough keygen Cough

the only thing i can think of is that on the 3650 the 3GP files play through realone player and as far as i know you cannot get this for the 7650 (someone please prove me wrong)

quicktime can convert a 5mb .mov file down to less then 200kb 3gp file so there no prob getting it onto the phone

7650 is SO much better than Sharp anyday!! Wel that's my opinion anyhow. Have the full version of Quicktime Pro 6.4 but do you need to go to website after and get the 3GP converter? How do u go about converting movie?

    Thanx

with QT Pro 6.4 go to File then Export all the options are there to convert the movie you are playing to nearly any other format

forgot to say if you have the full QT 6.4 it is already built in just follow what i said above

not sure what configs you are using but i've got QT converting to 3GPP for playback on the 7650 using the Video Recorder app...

here's the nokia 'cat' add converted at a mid/low quality setting
(right click and save as) converted from an AVI

you can tweak you settings - just don't go pushing the video size / frame rate / file size or you'll run into difficulty with the limitations of the 7650 and video playback

p.s. it was QuickTime 6.3 that added in support for 3GPP files

and here's the Kill Bill movie trailer converted at a mid/low quality setting (you'll may notice the lip sync go out slightly at the end of the movie - that's due to the Video Recorder having trouble keeping sync towards the end of the file - it's really only designed for playback of short clips)

(right click and save as) converted from a QT Mov file

it's about 100 sec long so it's a big clip for the 7650 at around 1MB - make sure you have space on the handset for it

unfortunately your mates may have been presented the GX10 as the best option at the Vodafone store... but compared to the features and expandability of a Series 60 device they left with a basic camera phone that was just pushed more than the other Live! handsets were... so they left with a phone that it suited Vodafone to push more than a phone that may have been the right 'fit' for them...
