Hey Guys, my company are doing a huge recruitment push, and they have asked the employees to help. I work for a (the) major multinational computer company in South Dublin (Bray - near the Dart). I've been there over a year and it is a great place to work. They are currently recriuting people for Full Time Telesales Positions. The job involves taking purely inbound calls (no cold calling etc) from people looking to purchace PC's and servers. Full training is provided. It is largely commision based - with most people grossing about 35k a year, and the possibilty for a lot more if you are good. Incentives and bonuses are also frequent. Its a great place to work, loads of young people and a real challenge.

You definitely need to have previous sales experience, not necessarily IT related. Although you are selling computers, they teach you everyhthing and its good sales people they are looking for. Its a fast paced environment, not high stress, but you are pushed to achieve your maximum potential.

If anyone is in the market for a job, or might fancy a chage of scenery please let me know. I get a bonus if someone I recommended is hired, and I'm sure there are plenty of perfect candidates in here!

If you have any more questions please post them here and I will reply in the evenings, or pm/e-mail me with your CV etc.

how about an 18 year old guy with no experience in the field but a good LC.

this guy would be dedicated, and more to the point, glad of the work.

for more details, see the thread in this forum called "please help!!"

Ha ha yep that's what all people hiring telesales staff tell you - (you can earn up to 100k a year) :)

BTW you have to sell 100 Pc's a day.

A guy I once knew who worked in Dell and told me that they had
to sell something like €11k a day to meet targets and its only
then after they reach that target that they get commission on
everything after that... madness or what?

Probably why I have never been attracted to IT sales..

Although in saying that, Dell seems to be a fairly alright place to
work for once you meet your targets that is.. :)

Ok, the chances of someone with no experience in sales of getting a job are pretty slim. When I started I had no sales experience but I started in the "Consumer " division which is easier. After 6 months I got promoted to "Business Sales" which is where these jobs are.

Targets are high but completely achievable if you are any good. My target is currently UK STG £9,000 a day. You would usually get about 4-8 orders per day, but don't forget you have larger orders too. You would usually get a few 10k - 20k orders every month, and if you’re lucky, even £500,000 like one guy did a few weeks ago. You take approx 6-12 calls per day of which approx half will result in orders.

The basic salary is something pathetic like 12-14k, but that is if you literally sell nothing at all. On Target earning is about €25k. There IS potential for a lot more. No, not £100,000 but put it this way: If you do 150% of your target you'll gross 6k in a month. Plenty of people do it - obviously not every month, as sales is a volatile business.

Look, if anyone is interested please let me know.

Oh and I hope my spelling is ok this time…

Ever notice how there's always jobs going in sales? Especially telesales?

They're not at all high pressured, and your workmates will not stab you in the back for a sale. It's easy money.

There are always jobs going in sales cause there is a very high turnover of staff, especially where I work. In a group of 15 that started, only me and 3 others remain 1 year later. It becomes apparant very quickly whether a person is suited to the job or not. I had never though of going into sales before I got this job but it worked out quite nicely in the end...

They're not at all high pressured, and your workmates will not stab you in the back for a sale. It's easy money.

If you can't handle a bit of pressure, go work in a library. Managers who over stress their employees are not very good managers - people work well under pressure, but too much pressure = stress - and no one works well when they are stressed. If you want to learn and develop yourself and your career - work in sales. If not, library's are easy money. My job is not easy money. I work dam hard, and when I do I am rewarded for it. My company probably gets the most productivity out of any of its kind. If your not going to work hard in a job (and your career) then your probably never going to go very far. On a sales floor of nearly 100, I am the youngest, but I am consistently in the top 20. I work hard, I have learned to deal with pressure, and I intend to do well. Some people only want jobs where they can do at little as possible for a reasonable amount of money - these people obviously never want to be wealthy when they are older. I do.

Does anyone else agree with me here? or is everyone reading this just in here to take the piss, just because I posted a legitimate opportunity for a very good job, and I thought someone might appreciate the opportunity of an interview... My company is very highly regarded. They are the best at what they do, and if you have done well there, when you go to look for another job, employers will recognise this. If you keep doing this, all going well you will have a successful career.

There is no such thing as back stabbing in sales. There are rules, and if you work inside the rules you can do what you want. The rules where I work are as follows: You get a new customer and you are given a certain amount of time where if an order is placed you get the sale. If you have neglected contacting this customer after a period of time another rep can take the sale. If this happens to you and you loose a nice order, you can't go crying to your mommy, you go take an order off someone else. You can’t be pissed off at someone who does this to you cause if you do you'll end up with no friends very quickly. If you manage your business correctly it will rarely happen. If this rule was not there then customers would be neglected and you would not sell as many pc's. You may find this strange but in my section there is actually a team of 4 people who don't actually take any calls, they operate solely on closing the sales which other people have neglected to do so. So if you are stroppy and not doing your job properly, then you will loose a lot of business.

If anyone finds this interesting, or would like a challenge and a good career opportunity let me know. If not I'm sure there are plenty of dead end jobs out there for some real easy money...

actually, im not too worried about spelling or typoes. i do them constantly myself.

however, if you are putting up a note to try to get people to come and get a job (i presume you get s finders fee or something) then for the sake of professionalism, its better if you run your post through a spell checker first.

i mean, would you go for a job in a paper where the ad was full of errors? i wouldnt. to me it would say the company was fly by night.

simply pointing it out, and no i wasnt being bitchy.

so, IS this actually Dell we are talking about, and do you actually get a finders fee?
i mean, surely companies can do their own marketing without you needing to do it?
i presume there is something in it for you?

Check his first post, he already mentions a bonus for getting people in, nothing wrong with that :)
I get a bonus if someone I recommended is hired

I wasn't trying to take the piss. A lot of people wouldn't enjoy the job. A lot of young people are desperate for work right now, but this might not neccessarily be a good opportunity for everybody.

It sounds like you're working in one of the better sales teams. Some of the stories I've heard........

  • Moderators, Motoring & Transport Moderators, Music Moderators Posts: 12,781 Mod ✭✭✭✭Zascar

OK cool, I see your point, but I'm a crappy speller and I'm not in work now, and this is certainly no official add. I've seen enough bad spelling, and moreso bad grammar on these boards, so I just can't be bothered... I think spelling can be excused but some of the grammar on here is appauling! You can just tell that some people were out the day they taught english in school - anhd that they talk exactly like they type...

No the job is certainly not for everyone, however you would not believe the divertisy of people in sales. Quiet & Loud, Young & Old, Confident & Reserved, the list goes on.

The you have to get from the station to work. So add that time and add another 30mins for delays along the way.

  • Moderators, Music Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators Posts: 9,389 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lenny

Yea just been informed it could take up to 50mins for the dart to Bray..
ah well, **** that I ain't applying for it.
takes me about an hour and 20mins to get into town, then another 50 for the dart, and then the mini bus, which would mean another 20mins at least? thats over 2 1/2 hours of traveling, just to get there! lol
not up for 5 hours to get to and from work a day. :(

I know how you feel. I have a 2hr drive each way to work at the moment. You can't do that for long. You'd crack up. Anything up to an hour is ok. But personally I think it has to be under 40mins for it not to really affect your quality of life.
