Right He is after ringing me, the modem was hit the chip was blown completely off the pci card. Does it mean that the mobo is fried?

You never know. Best bet is to remove the modem and try again. No luck, keep removing parts, down to the CPU, mobo and GFX card to see if any other parts are fried. If the mobo won't even boot then, it's probably gone.

Think he took out the modem, still sam problem. I'll get him to start removing all PCI cards and see if the problem goes away.

Happened me recently, everything was fried, wouldn't be too hopeful of saving anything
