I received the magazine today and it included a letter from Richard Draper informing me of an increase in subscription prices. My package will go up to €61. It goes on to explain that, since I pay in advance, my payment for December will be €60.87 and then that "All your following bills will be at the new price". I think they forgot to add "until the next increase".

They have also disconnected the free phone number to ring sky. You now have to dial 0818719810 - when I rang sky they couldnt even tell me what the calls cost on that number! She said that it is a national rate number and it is the same price where ever you are in the UK. She didnt understand that ROI is not in the UK!

Hmmm, Guinness is €3.15 here in wicklow, lets see 732 divided by 3.15 = 230 pints with some spillage :D

Divide that by 52 and you get about 4 pints a week, which is less than a good night out, a lot less... :)

    Horses for courses I 'spose.
People who are able to afford it, still don't notice a small amount like that it seems, or else the market would be telling Sky it can't bear another increase.

Yup. Discussion already started on digitalspy (even though by how much isn't all that clear)

Damn! I dont' get sent the UK sky magazine so I don't know much about the increases. So that's roughly an extra €2.60

It is nearly 100 back catalog "classic" film releases on DVD...

    Divide that by 50....

You get to watch TWO classic quality new films every week instead of Sky reruns....

I don't sub to Sky anymore and have 4 satellite recivers.

I don't spend that much on Drink and DVDs together.

The Groceries are over €200 a week though and Cheque card limit = €130. Are the banks living in the past?

No one is forcing anyone to pay the increases - people can vote with their feet.

Price increases are painful - but a fact of life.

Personally I am going to cancel - but in fairness to Sky they will charge what the market will sustain - they are running a business not a charity.

That's odd. I too received a letter from Richard Draper saying that my monthly sub will stay the same. Bit of a waste of paper if you ask me. For reference, I'm taking Sky World with both movies channels. I suspect the increase is so they can pay more for sports events.

Sky World is going to €61 . a €1 increase. not too bad at all. saw it on the page with the Sky rag today

I got my Sky magazine today, and guess what?
    My subscription price is dropping!
A massively underwhelming drop it has to be said, from €52.61 to €52.00

mines going from 60 to 61 per month which is not bad , but if it was a 4/5 euro increase , it would be a dif story.

The price in the UK is going up by £1. So the entertainment package will now be £19.50 per month if you pay by direct debit. (Its £1 more if you dont!!!)
