    Hi,
I have to send off costings to a client for a site im going to develop.
How do people usually charge out in the market as im new to the whole scene.
Is it by page? How much per page?
    Is it by hour/day?

Ive to send off costings last thing today so any info would be appreciated!

Sorry if this is too late.

For future projects you could consider pricing based on the value of the solution you are providing to your client. To do this you are basically trying to determine the value of the website to your client and price relevant to that. Whilst, all the time trying to keep an eye on what your competitors are charging and ensuring you meet all your overheads.

This is a different approach to pricing by page or per hour.

If its just an information site wit no christmas lights or spangles id say 500 for the home page and site design, 25 for each additional page, hosting costs are separate

That seems very cheap to me. How much preparatory work do you do for that? How much design choice?

You'll always find divergence in the market, with some people offering 'services' at rock-bottom prices. Some of the sites that get submitted to http://www.search.ie/ are produced by these people and it shows!!

Like everything in this world - you get what you pay for.
