So i need to get BB for college, mainly for research, but lets be honest, gaming and IRC'n will go on aswell.
So i'll probably mainly use it for DL'n webpages/Games/IRC.

What would be the best company to go with ?
Theres loads out atm they all seem like pretty much the same deal to me, so i need some info from ppl who have it.
please post webbys if you can.

If i don't get anything better it will probablt be eircon self install, i don't like the cap idea but apparently its well enough for what i'd be doing, plus NTL apparently have now put on a cap aswell, it this true??

Well anyway any help is welcome.

iol and utv are both cheaper and have double the download allowance, and are offering free install, free modem and free 1st month

IOL counts uploads in with your allowance. It may be 8GB but as someone said on another thread; if you upload 1GB in any given month then your download limit is 7GB.

UTV counts downloads only so you get 8GB of downloads.

Worrying speeds being reported on UTV at the moment though :(

IOL is a good service, and if your only option is DSL - it would be my choice (cheaper than Eircom and double the cap)
but ntl is not only cheaper but it is also faster, with lower contention ratios and higher caps 8 Vs 30 per month.

ntl cap 1 gig per day is a soft cap ie not strictly enforced.

I have read a number of post on clicksaver about slow download
    speeds.

I have the ntl myself and it works well, my average connect speed is about 550kbs my friend has IOL and his average connect speed is 450kbs.

The big issue with ntl is availability - it is only currently available in Lucan, Crumlin kimmage and Tallagh.
