Im thinking of getting a broadband package, and was holding out for an affordable no cap one, but I recently saw UTV bb, and it looks pretty good.
can anyone tell me what its like? is it better than eircom or esat? and does anyone know when irish bb or ntl will be available in the santry area?

There are plenty of threads already here on the differences between IOL/UTV/Eircom.

Basically, eircom and IOL have better pings than UTV (apparently) for gamers, while UTV have their legendary customer service. Eircom have the smallest dwnload cap (4 gigabytes per month) while UTV require you to take up their telephony service (which is cheaper than eircom).

    Prices are:
    Eircom - €55 p/m 4gb cap
    IOL - €50 p/m 8gb cap
    UTV - €48 p/m 8gb cap

Its kind of up to you really.

NTL are doing trials using their existing TV lines as broadband access lines... you could wait for results on that, but that could take a few months.... otherwise, e-mail IBB and see what they say.

the eircom cap is 6gb now, and they'll only really enfoce it if you are going way over your limit.

i'm going for IBB just as soon as they get a node on the other side of the merrion sq. mast. :D
