PC won't turn off.

What the topic says. It's been going on now for quite some time.

Basically I go to shut the computer down, all goes well until the last second when I get blue-screened for a fraction of a second and the PC reboots itself (It's impossible to see what the blue-screen says btw, way too brief). If I want to turn the PC off I have to hold the power button down for 5 seconds.

Sometimes I get a message after booting up which tells me what Windows has recovered from a fatal error. I send an error report and am then sent to a windows site which tells me that the error was caused by a device driver. It doesn't tell me what device driver it was though.

The most recent things installed were CD-Rom and CD-RW drives, and a LAN card (I think that was after, not 100% sure though). Strat was asking me what I had plugged into my USB ports, just a webcam and my mouse.

    AMD Athlon 1.3
Windows XP Pro (No service packs)
    384 RAM

    Any help is welcome.

Right click on My Computer, Advanced Tab, Startup and Recovery and uncheck the 'Automatically Reboot' option and you should be able to see the blue screen error.

MS have also released several patches for this problem.
You could do with checking their web****e.

I disabled auto-restart on error and here's what it says when I go to reboot:

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Check to make sure any new hardware or software is installed properly. If new installation check manufacturer for any windows updates.

If this problem persists remove the installed hardware. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing etc. etc.
