Anyone else looking forward to this?
I never saw the second, but heard that Naked Gun writer Abrahams (or maybe Zucker) and Kevin Smith (i think) are behind it cos the brothers from the first two didnt want it anymore.
Also leslie neilson and charlie sheen star, two gods of spoof movies.

im not sure what the irish release date is, its oct 24 in the USA

Scary Movie 2 has to have been one of the worst movies of all time. So any further sequel can't but be an improvement.

BTW it's David Zucker who directed it.

It's out 31st of October, according to the UGC website (plenty of horror on that date!). Y'all should check out the trailer for it - I particularly like The Others spoof :D

yeah, the trailer is good... problem is i havent seen signs, the others or the ring yet, which seems to be the main 3 rip offs, so I'll have to see them soon, even though i only really want to see the ring) otherwise it might'nt be as funny as it would be

then again, a good spoof is funny no matter what, and not just for the films it rips off, for example i hadnt seen any detective movies or cop movies when i saw naked gun all those years ago, but its still one of the best comedies ever.

Aye I agree, Scary movie 2 is one of the worst movies I've seen, btw don't see the ring, go rent or download the original japanese version, ringu. The American version did a reallllllly bad job at remaking it.

Well 3 might be good if its by different directors and decent actors.

    2 was load of bolloxs.

Ignore him - they did quite a competent job, a point most critics agreed upon. I really enjoyed the US remake - it's solidly directed, decent acting, and some of the scares are better because of the bigger budget. 'Ringu' went for it at a slightly more spiritual angle (as opposed to the more Western cynicism) but it's also enjoyable. While we're here, I wasn't all that mad on the sequel, "Ringu 2" and "Ring 0" had potential, which it failed to materialise on.

I utterly hated the original with a passion.

It's almost as if people didn't realise that Scream was a parody. Or at least they needed more fart and dick jokes to make the idea that it had humour evident to the American Pie audiences.

    Haven't seen the second film.
And I dont plan on seeing the third either.

You've got to be ****ing joking me!!!

The American remake was an utter travesty!

    One example
is the end sequence! The part the entire film was building towards, the peice, that in the original film, was probably the most suspensefull, claustrophobic and tense scene in film history!!!

American producers: "Hey, how can we make this fantastic scene better?" - "I GOT IT! Let's stick in loads of ****ty CGI! Oh, and how about a CAR CHASE cutting in and out of it! That's GOTTA make it better!" - "YEAH! THAT WILL RULE!!!"

To cash in on the "sequel bandwagon", why else?

Again, I respectfully disagree. Most re-makes are travesties and I generally hate it on principle (be interesting to see what the new "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" is like, for example. Oh and I did prefer, offhand, "Abres Les Ojos" to "Vanilla Sky"). I just enjoyed this one. Maybe it was better circumstances ("Ringu" I saw at home, by myself, on a small TV whereas "The Ring" I saw at night, in a theatre, with my bf) or maybe it was pretty well done. IMDB is usually a decent barometer of taste, and the original and remake are on the same score there (7.5).

Oh yes, because obviously imdb.com users aren't a bunch of hicks who wouldn't know a decent movie if it came up and bit them in the face! If you drag the average moron rating on imdb.com into this as part of your arguement, you've already lost.

Incidentally, which version did you see first?

Japanese version, but thank god I didn't pay the cinema and Hollywood to see The Ring, piece of s hit that was.

I saw the Japanese version first. I already said I generally agree the originals are superior but I don't find it always the case. This time I liked both - and that doesn't make me "one of the stupid masses" as you seem to think. You prefering "Ringu" does not make you a movie purveyor with greater taste - merely one with different taste. For example many people liked "A Beautiful Mind" - I thought it was an overblown piece of sh!t. "The Hours" wasn't half as good as it was made out to be, is another example and the 'Star Wars' series are, IMHO, over-rated. Hell, I don't even hold the Godfather trilogy should be held in the awe that it is generally regarded. None of which makes me or you right and matters of taste can rarely be won in an argument. So you're right and so am I.

Bah! Where's the fun in that conclusion!?

But seriously, they destroyed the ending of the film in the American version, over-all it was good up untill that point.
