I'm wondering if anyone knows anything about getting ear lobes stretched. How it's done? Is it painful? Any recommended studios (in Dublin)? Etc.
I think it looks great but don't want to rush into it without knowing anything about it.
    I'd appreciate any info :)

Hey ive got em done! The best place in my opinion for this is snakebite! The way mine were done was a piercing with a 3.2mm needle, then a lubricated taper is pushed in after which brought it up to 5mm. The ear piercing doesnt really hurt, the stretching I found had a slight burning sensation to it, but it was never intolerable. The only this is if you want to make sure that the hole to close up sometime in the future, dont take your ears above 8mm. Other than that, have fun :)

Thanks so much! Do you know how long it would take for them to close?

That really depends on the person. I stretched my ears up to 6mm 2 weeks after getting them pierced and stretched (which was way too early) and my right ear got really bad and sore, and I had to let it go back down to a 5mm, which it stretched back down too in a few hours. A week later I let my left ear go back down to a 5 aswell (for symmetry) and once again it only took a fews hours before it went down to a 5. Allthough the more it shrinks the slower it gets, so while a 6 to a 5 is fast, it'll take longer too go from a 5 to a 4 etc, but ive been told for me that it shouldnt take more than around 2 weeks till no one would notice they were stretched.

I stretched my lobe up to about 11mm. I eventually got fed up of it, and took it straight out 2 summer's ago.

Today, there is still a noticable mark, as if there is a dent in my lobe.

I think you're meant to bring the size down slowly, for it to heal properly - afaik, if you go over 6mm, your gonna leave a mark.

snakebite are a bit expensive for stretching and you will probably be getting used jewellery (i know its clean but it makes it a little harder to justify their prices). i'd recommend celestial ring or body shock.

I didnt find snakebite to be expensive. I got both my ears pierced and stretched for €65 which I think is a good price.

€65 ??? That's ****ing ridiculous in my opinion, i got my ears stretched up for the first time in metal morphosis for a tenner each i thought that was insanely expensive considering it was only the first size and the plug wasn't even a pluf, it was like a thin rod ...that was 3.2...then i went up to 3.8.... then i went up to 5 because the ****ing bitch in the shop mis-sized the plug and it ****ing hurt like nobody's business LIKE SERIOUSLY hurt, i was gonna scream. i 'm used to the pain like. no need to turn you off it but just make sure you go up bit by bit or you'll be caused unneccesary pain and ear fibre tearing and as someone said above, im surethat you have to take them back down slowly...

i got my ears stretched up for 10 euro for both of them in Nine Lives in bray, they have excellent staff who explain everything and are really gentle, but i think the prices have gone up since but i do know thats its still reasonably cheap. ..

Another tip is stretch one ear up to your next size (eg ear A), then wait til its healed, then use that jewlery in the ear B, and buy the bigger one for ear A, this way you only have to buy one jewlery of each size and it works out cheaper, and then when you reach your happy size just buy 2 pieces!. sorted. (thats what i did cuz im poor)

Hmm. Well you see I got my ears pierced and stretched to a 5 in the one sitting. Now if you consider that in metal morphosis, flesh tunnels cost €20 (or 2 for €30 or sumthin like that), and also the piercing of two ears (piercing with ring costs around €18 so without ring around €10) you would be talking about a price of around €50-€60. I personally wouldn't hesitate paying more to go to snakebite as opposed to metal morphosis, cause I know it'll be done right.

The cost of lobe piercings is a disgrace anyways. the ring and needle used couldn't cost more than 8 quid. id rather just get it done with a gun and stretch from there than pay 60 quid or whatever.

Hey Guys this is my first post.
Im 17 and currently have 7mm stretchings. Does anyone know what size it is before i can get fags through my tunnels?
And incase any of you need any form of body jewellery what so ever i strongly suggest www.bodyjewelleryshop.co.uk which is where i get all my tunnels and see through bars from. They do everything imaginable and at great prices.

hey. i was just wondering if their was an age restriction on ear stretching. i've wanted it done for ages and i finally want to get it done.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 958 ✭✭✭porn_star

    I imagine it's about 16...

65 euro at snakebite seems a bit steep to me too, but if you're happy to pay that price go for it.
I stretched my ears up myself..they're currently at 10mm...gonna let them at that for the moment and stretch them up a bit more.
As for the biggest size you can stretch them to and still have them close up, it's different for everyone...
Iknow people who've stretched far more then 10mm and had them close up and only leave a slight mark.and i know people that have had them to 10mm and took ages too close up and leave more of amark.
The key is to stretch gradually and slowly.
I'd suggest if you're really serious about doing it, take what people here are saying into account, but at the same time do a bit more research aswell...

im 16 so i hope i can get it done. my age hasnt stopped me getting piercings or tattoos before but every place is different.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,057 ✭✭✭amazingemmet

Personally i think it varies from person to person i went from 1.6 to 7mm in on go on my ear and when i took it out it closed back down fine it just depends on if you deform the lobe it self or if the piercing is contained in it.

On a side note playdead 16 and tattooed??

On a side note playdead 16 and tattooed??

yeah. i got it on my birthday. but my cousin is 14 and she has a tattoo too. i know lots of young people with tattoos. is this strange? lol

lookin forward to getting my lobes stretched. just need to make up the money....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,057 ✭✭✭amazingemmet

I wouldn't say strange and i don't want to seem high and mighty but thats far too young to be getting tattooed by the time your 21ish its gonna look like crap from growing etc.
and also who's tattooing 14 year olds

i dunno bout 14, but i dont think 16 is too young. i know of lots of people who got tattoos at my age and now they are in their mid-20s and their tats look great. this isn't the place to name and shame any tattooists. after all it is a thread about lobe stretching

I'd just turned 17 when I got my tattoo...but where i got it done, generally isnt' a studio that would tattoo under 18s..I just have my ways.
    14, though...wow.

1.6 to 7mm really? wow..that's a huge jump.did you do it your self or did a piercer do it for you.that really is huge for one go.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,057 ✭✭✭amazingemmet

I done it myself but i was in a studio at the time

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 958 ✭✭✭porn_star

Just to make me seem well hard i'm gonna say no ;) for the 5-7 stretch i mixed a little lidocaine in the lube so took the sting out of it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 958 ✭✭✭porn_star

yup, now you seem hard alright. ;) lol
cool...don't think I could stretch that fast though, I've always taken it slow..
although, my left ear stretched up pretty quickly originally...and I'm always having a little bit more trouble with my right.
got there in the end though...
gonna wait a while and bring them up to 12s

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,057 ✭✭✭amazingemmet

I wouldn't mind doing tunnels again but can't as they prob get ripped out.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 958 ✭✭✭porn_star

    why would they...
i had tunnels in for a long time...
but I'm after getting to love the look of plugs lately.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,057 ✭✭✭amazingemmet

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 958 ✭✭✭porn_star

    shame about that...
but at least you have some left ;)

 thats really expensive is it not???
in nine lives / lilac lizard in bray, they stretched my ears for 5 euro. all i did was buy the jewlery there and they would put it in for you. i'm sure they copped onto how cheap that was in comparison to everywhere else though, and most likely upped the prices a bit... but i started my stretchings from a georges street arcade gun piercing like.... they are fine, nothign gone wrong.... i have a 6mm and a 3.8 mm i'd say , and i reckon it only cost me about 20 squids...

did someone ask what size a fag is...that they could get it through their ear?
    i'd say about 8mm.
i can get spliffs through mine , not fags yet.. :( good luck!

My ears are at 1.6mm at the moment i want to stretch them to 5mm, don't know much about the stretching process. I'm interested in doing it myself but not fully sure how. Anyone can tell me more about stretching? Would be greatly appreciated. :D

I went in to bodyshock recently (I've gotten all my piercings there and really like them) and they quoted me eighty quid for stretching....which I'm begining to think was a little bit more than usual, seeing as every other price here is lower......

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 958 ✭✭✭porn_star

    wow.
well, maybe prices are high for ear stretching then, considering someone else paid 60euro and they're saying 80.
I'm glad I stretched mine myself, saved me money.
Although, I definitly don't think it's anywhere near as high as those prices, where I get pierced..I must ask.

Any piercing studio should only charge for the jewelry, the stretching should be done for free. And as for going to one shop (ie snake-bite) as apposed to another (ie Metal morphosis) because it'll be done "right", thats a bit odd, it's very difficult to **** up a stretching, the onlt mistake a shop can make is stretching too much to soon, and most shops have a "no jumping sizes" rule so you can only go one size at a time. If you are affiliated with one shop(ie snakebite) fair enough but you don't have to accuse other shops (ie Metalmorphosis) of not being able to do their jobs properly.....Thats just childish behavior and is helping nobody!

This is the kind of childish, ignorant crap i'm referring to.....this is peoples jobs you are talking about. If you can't even stretch your own ears then you are in no position to put down a professional shop and it's staff. All the professional shops, (ie Body-shock, Snake-bite, Metalmorph, celestial) are all good shops in their own way.
