... Is currently installing on my laptop. The new cover designs and install screens are very pretty.

A big thanks to Rena Jackson at Suse UK for getting it to me in time for a client demo tomorrow.

    More updates as things progress.

    And its done..

Yast is as allways a highly effective setup tool, software selection was easy and the auto detection of hardware excellent, on the whole unchanged but for a few graphical tweaks and a new layout for the detailed software selection.

Logging into KDE 3.1.4, theres a new default wallpaper, everythings pretty much the same, but now Konq has a smb browser as well.

ACPI is working at last, but for some reason, Firebird has been left off and Xfce, my prefered desktop is only at 3.8 rather than 4 which is a bit annoying; but these are minor quibbles.

So far it feels like a very complete and extensive update rather than something stunningly new, never the less I'm very pleased.

Gnome support has definitely improved, although its still 2.2 rather than 2.4.

The kernel despite being 2.4.21 has definitely been tweaked, performance is definitely better than the vanilla 2.4.22 that I have running on my other laptop.

A 2.6 test kernel has been included, but is surrounded by warnings that this might destroy your system, no support yada, yada. I havn't put it on this as it is meant for production, but its nice to have available.

Finally it comes bundled with 'Beneath a Steel Sky' one of my all time favourite DOS games :)

Sure, as soon as I can get the laptop on a network, or 9 installed on my desktop.

Looks like the other screenshots are too large for the board. I'll see if I cant post some compressed ones tomorrow.
