    not well documentated
but outlook supports drag and drop of emails..

bascially do a select all on the folder u wanna backup

and drag all the messages into another windows folder

all the messages are created as individual files with .eml extension

great for transfer between ppl also

If the new machine has Windows XP on it,
look for the item called something like
File and Settings Migration or transfer Wizard
It should be on the start menu for a newly installed machine.

Run it and give it a floppy when it asks you to.
    It's the business.
Stick the floppy in the old machine and run the program on the disk.
It'll pack up all the mails address book and files on the old PC,
stick them in a folder and let you import them onto the new machine.
Different versions of Outlook and Outlook express are pigs for talking
to each other which is why Microsot must have written this program.

You can copy files over on a floppy if you don't have a lot of mail,
but really you'll need a serial/parallel cable or an ethernet cable.
If you have a CD burner on the old machine you can use that.
You just need to get the files to the new machine
and the wizard does the rest.
