Pablo I don’t have any recommendations but from experience you might be disappointed with the quality of TV out especially when it comes to text. The quality on the TV is limited because they cannot reach the resolutions monitors can most cards will give you a maximum of 800x600 @ 50Hz so the bigger the screen you use the fuzzier the text on the screen gets.

Will I be restricted to 800 x 600? Thats not good! I'm not too worried about graphic detail but it must be clearly legible. Anyone out there have any experience doing this?

p.s.thx guys for your help so far!!

If you are going to be doing a lot of presentations then maybe you should look at getting a projector. Can be quite expensive (heading towards the grand mark and above) but the ones ive seen hook up to normal vga-out (monitor port) on a graphics card/laptop and give fairly good resolutions.

Boro, I'm currently using a projector but the cost of replacing bulbs is proving too expensive, because it needs to be on for 8 to 10 hours a day. ARe there no cards that will give a better resolution?
Tman, is the resolution not dependant on the graphics card and independent of the OS?
Again, thx for you help guys!

Pablo the restriction is caused by what a PAL TV can show because they have a lot less lines and a lower refresh rate than a computer monitor so it wont matter what card you buy you will still have the same problem. There is some info on it here http://www.monitorworld.com/faq_pages/q7_page.html

As far as I know the only way to get a comparable computer monitor quality image would be to get a large LCD TV with a VGA input which will set you back a few grand.

The guys on the Home Entertainment board here http://boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?forumid=113 might be able to help as I know some of them have setup systems with their PC’s linked to their TV’s

your going to be stuck with whatever resolution you're running your desktop at.
there are ways around it afaik (someone posted a link to an app that lets you run windows at an odd resolution, the highest a tv can cope with recently, can't find it tho)

There was a hack on the TV Tool website: http://tvtool.info to let you change the resolution to 768x576 to match the tv's native resolution. Cant seem to find it now though. I want to turn my shuttle into a divx box/fileserver but unfortunately nvidia wont release any details of the nv17 chip so I'm stuck with a windows solution unless I get a new graphics card. Might go with the radeon as PPC suggests.
