I got Esat Business a couple months ago and one minordifference i've noticed compared to other providers (radsl here and regular adsl in the UK) is that you don't have to 'dial up'.

With the Radsl products you get sent username's/passwords which you then create a 'connect' thingy with. However with Esat Business (and i believe Eircom Business tho im not 100% sure on that) you don't have to ie. Your automatically connected once the modem has made a connection. The modem connection takes place wether the pc is on or not and once the modems connected the second you turn your pc on you can straight away browse without having to do anything else.

My Question is: What's the difference between the two? Why the two seperate methods? Is there a reason? Is it because of RADSL and ADSL? or did someone just decide to do it for the laugh (or for some other reason ;) )

Is this also the reason that you have to get an engineer install for Esat Business? (perhaps thats the reason, so they don't have to have engineer installs)

This isn't really important but im just curious. Thanks for any insight

afaik, it's because Esat's Business package uses PPPoA.
Eircom's business one uses PPPoE and does need a username and password.
