I thought they already showed season 1? Is my dodgy memory acting up again?

    I thought they had too...
But i won't be watching it on RTE, untill they get rid of those stupid dogs, or bugs or whatever they call them.

    good news that,

watched a couple of episodes on c4 but then missed too many and didnt know what was goin on.

    will be tuning in.

no hasn't been on RTE yet.

I beleive that TG4 wanted it and that's what it took so long.

TG4 like HBO I think OZ, Curb Your enthuism and some cop show cann't think of the name of it.

The cop show (and it's not quite a cop show - more an investigation with cops...) was called "The Wire" and it is easily one of the best cop shows of the last decade. It's written by the creater of the excellent "Homicide: Life on the Street" and is about the investigation into a drugs gang in Baltimore, Maryland.
One of the reasons it worked so well was it's ultra gritty realism. For example they wanted a wire-tap. Now normally in a movie they just get one but here they had to do it *as a cop really would* and go through all the procedures. They'd also show how the inept bureaucry of the police can help mangle investigations as much as the pepetrators themslves. It may sound boring but works so well because of the insane attention to detail and one story spread over 13 episodes.
Oh and Season 2 has aired in the US already with Season 3 having been commissioned. I intend to appropriate Season 2 from the usual sources :)

I watched series 1 - absolutely riveted by it. I think it got the blend of drama and black humor exactly right. Have to get my hands on the second series or watch it when it finally gets aired on RTE.

I make it a point never to watch a series if I miss the beginning. A friend of mine hadn't seen all of Angel Season 2, never mind 3. He then caught the end of Season 4 and was completely confused going, "Who's that? They're *what*?!" and "what the...? where did? and how did..." etc.....

Yeah ixoy that is my philosophy for wathching TV. If I know I am going to miss an episode in a series I make sure to record it, if for some reason I forget to do that I drop the series and wait for it to start again somewhere else.

    It depends on the series.

Somes series you can just watch and not follow, some you have to follow and other you can follow or just watch them every now and then.

Soap needs to be watched every month, (Or not at all)
Try to miss one episode of any american drama and you'll be okay, except for 24, Alias.
Some need to be watched from the beginning i.e. 24.
Others you can come into whenever, mainly sit coms.
British sitcom rearly make refreance to other episodes in the series, american sitcom always do, thats one reason some people don't like american sitcom.

Six Feet Under is something to watch from the beginning.

Its hard to watch and keep your attention up for 1hr and 30mins every week, IMO. Can just image what it like to watch with the amount of adds on American TV.

Will RTE just run the serie up to series 3 with out a break?

It's hard to tell but they should! TG4 showed the first five seasons of Oz in two blocks, so I don't see why not (well besides 39 weeks...)

im very happy with myself that i got the chance to watch it from the start, definitely my fav show on tv at the moment, only 3 episodes left in series 3!! where is series 4??!?!!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 235 ✭✭Go Figure!

The show is currently on hiatus in the U.S and its future has yet to be determined. If it does return series 4 will be braodcast sometime next year.

There's doubt over its future? Tell me it's not so! It HAS to continue!

I definitely think they need to rethink things for series 4. the spark was totally lost in season 3.

I'm afraid it's future is in doubt. Check out this website page for proof.

hopefully they'll wrap up loose ends and leave it there. David should dump Keith and go with Patrick. Nate and Lisa should break up, and Nate and Brenda should get back together.

Claire should die from a drug overdose. Ruth should resign herself to life as a widow and raise cats.

That just says they're on a break. "The Wire" for example has got a third series: see the officical HBO site for that!

The third season of The Shield is being filmed, according to this

And Dead Like Me just got renewed - check it out here

... that site is seriously misinformed or misleading!

oh ****. i forgot all about it. any chance of a repeat?
    anyone know

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 235 ✭✭Go Figure!

Yes ixoy although this is another site that says the same thing

    http://www.epguides.com/grid/

it seems I was misinformed and was wrong.
This is two website pages that say that Six Feet Under has been renewed for a fourth season and will begin filming in November.

Mossy Monk, no chance of a repeat in the near future. The Series 1 DVD is out in the shops at the moment though, if you want to buy it?
