    And finally add 21% vat to your final invoice for handing over to the Tax man. Note!!Always put this straight into an account and don't touch it. Seriously don't even look at it. They will come looking for it and you could end up with quite a hefty bill from them.

    You must, of course, be VAT registered before you can charge VAT to a customer.
    If you attempt to charge VAT without being registered, you will end up in deep shit with Revenue.

    Yeah but your little side-company has to earn more than 20 grand a year to charge VAT if my memory serves me correctly.

    Basically correct, however, it does not mention that in the article.
