    List

As a rule I tend to buy from play and cdwow (with the odd item from dvdsoon) but I always do a little search here first.

Never saw that before, very handy, thanks!

And make sure to check out what the cdwow prices on their Hong Kong site are like first - saved myself almost a fiver on the Matrix Reloaded over the €/UK£ cd-wow sites & play.com.

whats the story with the region1 and region2 etc under each dvd?

I find www.blackstar.co.uk really good, especially after they started doing free delivery to Ireland. They have a great selection and are really good for B-Movie's and cheesey horror films.

CDWow is nearly always a good bet, but sometimes what you're looking for won't be there and you end up going to Amazon anyway

Advice needed here: I recently bought Johnny Cash's "The Man Come Around" album from CDWow. As per usual, decent price (€13.95) and I had it within two to four days! No probs there, price and delivery good as ever. But the CD came with a bonus DVD with the video for "Hurt" on it. The CD plays perfect but the DVD won't play in my machine. Now, when I say it won't play, I mean that you can make out the main menu but the screen is flickering like mad with a green line or several green lines.

The same thing happened when I bought the U2 album - Best Of 1990 - 2000 and B-Sides. It came with a free DVD and same thing happened. Flickering screen with possibilities of developing epilipsy! It plays in my mates DVD player, but he has a multi-region player. Does this mean the DVD is the wrong region or is my machine banjaxed!

I know the two DVD's were free and I should be grateful to have got anything in the first place. "Think of all the starving kids in Africa that have no DVD's" I hear you cry.

Anyway what do ye think I should do*

*besides piss off with my small, meaning-less problems

region 1 is the U.S and Canada, DVD's are generally released there first and somethimes before the movie hits the cinema's here.
Region one DVD's will only play on REgion one DVD players or mutiregion players.
These are players that either have special software on board to pretend they are Region one players or are hackable for that purpose.
Your commoner garden DVD player bought in Ireland generally won't play region ones unless there is a hack available for it or unless it has been converted to do so.
Some nowadays are sold as multi region, ie, the hack is know to exist or they are already modified.
If you plan to watch region one movies you are best to ask when you buy as regards whether the player is multi region or not.
    Ask here for further details.

If they are region one dvd's they may be RCE ( region code enhanced ) which only some multi region players will play.Play.com generally lists the region one DVD's that it sells as being RCE if they are and warns that they will only be playable on compatable players.

    Thanks Man

But it doesn't say on either of the DVD's what region they are. If they did, I'd at least have some idea. Thanks for the reply :)

Okie, if the DVD was a bonus to the CD you bought and the package was aimed for the U.S market then it's region one.
With CD wow that is possible.
Or it could be region 3 (OZ) which if your player isn't multi region wouldn't work either.
Try a region one in your player that isn't RCE, you'll get a cheap one from play.com
