Just seen it and was quite disappointed, typical Disney fare.... Toy Story it is not. A lot of cutesyness over gags. And the ending was really anti climactic. To sum it up, all the good gags are in the ad... and thats never a good thing.

I thought it was very very funny, very nicely animated but had a really dull uninteresting story which is very much away from the norm when it comes to Pixar films. All their films tell traditional tales but they've got that little something extra, that Nemo just didn't have.

    That said... Go see it.

It was huge in america and i really cant see why, its good but its not great lamda is right all the good gags are in the ads

saw it yesterday and thought it was quite good. definitely not as good as toy story 2, but good nonetheless, tho not as funny as i was expecting. wasnt blow away by the animation either. maybe just gettin used to it now. doesnt challenge toy story 2 or shrek but worth seeing

it was good but not as good as previous pixar films.

The animation has gotten so good that you hardly even notice it which gives you more time to focus on the story which this time around wasn't as good as Toy Story.

Spirited Away is still showing in Dublin and its much much better.

    Good call.
A much better film all round.

I thought it was OK but thats it, I didn't think it'd top Toy Story 1+2 and I was right. But still its worth a look.

4/5 for me. Was very funny in parts. I agree it wasn't as good as Toy Story. The kids will love it though.

Found it boring. There were a couple of mildly amusing moments but it was fairly standard stuff for the most part. Switched it off about two thirds of the way through (saw it on a flight). It's more of the same thing being continually recycled by Pixar.

Have to say I really enjoyed it. I agree it fell a small bit short of Toy Story 2 and Monsters Inc but it was good none the less. I thought the range of characters was very good and the genius was in some of the ancillary characters yet again (Jacques and the sea gulls).

BTW, they didn't put outtakes at the end cos they wanted to get away from some of the elements which signified a Pixar film.

Nothing could top the animation, humour and story in Toy Story. It's a fantastic movie! I haven't seen Finding Nemo yet, I'm expecting a lot from it cos I loved the Toy Story movies and Monsters Inc so much. Some of the posts here don't seem too positive, I'll have to go see for myself during the week.

But why the hell would they want to do that? In my mind "Pixar"=="Quality"!

I really enjoyed it, although I would agree that it wasn't quite up to Toy Story's standards. I could (and did) watch both Toy Stories a few times in a row when I first saw them, but I'm not quite that eager to see Finding Nemo again. Having said that, when I do get around to watching it again I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

I can't quite put my finger on it, but I think the humor seemed to be aimed a lot more at kids than previous Pixar outings.

saw finding nemo on friday, and i thought it was really funny, there were some classic moments in it, and some very good one liners. as with most disney-ish movies, i found the central characters a little schmaltzy, but the supporting characters were much more amusing, especially dory and the turtles, who i thought were hilarious!!

granted, the people i saw it with had smoked a few before going, so listening to them giggle uncontrollably was almost as funny as the movie!!! stupid stoners!!

Easily one of the best movies I've seen this year (and I have seen a LOT of them). Funny, cute, endearing, smart... I could go on and on but I'll just say: SEE. NOW. 9/10.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,008 ✭✭✭Tivoli

brilliant, loved every minute of it, humans looked terribal in it, but all the fish/whales turtles were great

    9/10 again

I'd go and watch it again just for the seagulls

Humans are *meant* to look terrible. Pixar have said they don't want photo-realistic humans as it takes away from their cartoony style.

thought it was good, but much like most of the other posters didn't live up to Pixar's past efforts.

    still good though.

    seagulls. :D:D:D

    mine!

Can't believe there hasn't been a post here about this film yet.
IMHO, it's the best film Pixar have made since Toy Story (Didn't like Monster's Inc). It's technically brilliant, looks fantastic and has some very funny moments.
The bits with the dentist's niece were laugh aloud funny
I can see how it did so well in the Box Office over in America. Pixar can do no wrong. Their next production is "The Incredibles" (I think) and It's looking good too - from the clips I'v seen.
So what'd ye all think of Nemo?

Why did you link to a Kill Bill thread...?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,872 ✭✭✭segadreamcast

Better than Monsters Inc and A Bugs Life (nobody has mentioned this one yet in comparison - have you all forgotten?!?)

Not as good as the original Toy Story, and to be honest, Toy Story 2 ruined it for me*...

9/10. See it, see it, see it!

*- (Believe it or not, when I was 9 my friend and I created an identical plot to toy story 2 with all the Toy Story toys. It was during the Christmas that they were the hottest things on the market and couldn't be found in any toy shop across the land. I had to tell that lameass story sometime in my life. Woooooo!)

watched it last week. it didnt really impress all that much but it did make me laugh in places.
the sharks councelling session, the crab being held up out of the water to make him talk :D, the fish from the dental surgery at the very end in the bags :D:D
and other things that i can't remember. i'll watch it again tomorrow to see if i missed some hidden message or something. should be a great film for children though

First of all, ignore everything you read. These are other peoples points of few on the film, not yours. Go see the film and make up your own mind. F***, I hate critics.."oh this is good, this is bad" bulls***.

Find out by going to see it, if your not bothered wait until it goes DVD, or goes terrestrial .

That said, it makes Futurama look like a stickman cartoon. Pixar have it down to an art.

isnt that the point of a message board, to post your point of view on things, discuss them  stick with the film reviews in the papers or should they be bannished forever

Mediocre. Some of the animation was great, the rest was average. Oh look, ocean and two little fishies. The jokes weren't great (some funny, lots of "meh" moments). Nowhere near as good as either Toy Story films or even Monsters Inc.

Definitely downhill. I was expecting more tbh.
Oh and really, who isn't sick of Ellen by now? She's so not funny anymore.

I saw two films this weekend, Kill Bill Vol 1 and Finding Nemo. One guess as to which I'm recommending to people....

Umm, pretty much ALL of the animation was great - what wasn't great about it? Did you see the great way they used fluid dynamics and lighting in it? Hmm? That sort of subtlety - in the details - is what makes the animation great. Or examine the texturing, etc. It's not about fantastic creatures...

And I felt it was above "Monsters, Inc." but not up to the "Toy Story" levels (which are hard to surpass). But *definetely* downhill? Nothing definite there when many a folk would appear to disagree... I may have enjoyed "Kill Bill, Volume I" more but that doesn't stop this being a great little movie.

Saw it on Friday... thought the animation excellent and Crush was the man !

Still think Shrek so much better though....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,304 ✭✭✭✭koneko

I'm not forcing anyone to agree and I'm not saying mine is the be-all-end-all opinion. It's just mine and I voiced it. I don't really a care what "many a folk" think, people should go see the film anyway but I'm just saying I didn't really think it was as great as some people are saying.

The film wasn't bad, don't get me wrong. It just wasn't brilliant. Not really memorable. I've seen a lot better CG, it definitely wasn't bad but wasn't jawdropping either. Good family film though I'd say.

[edit] Forgot this earlier:) Jokes probably weren't as good for me personally as it didn't have many mature-friendly (for lack of better word) jokes in it like the previous films did. It was more kids-oriented I felt
Oh and the jellyfish scene looked purdy[/edit]

    Really?
I guess I can see where you're coming from. It hadn't actually got much meat to the story, and the jokes were a little more thin on the ground, but I thought the film was much darker than any of the previous outings - when Marlin's wife, and all their baby eggs got eaten right at the start, I thought "fuck, they better have survived, or this is the heaviest start to a kid's move I've seen".

And then when Dory completely loses it at the end? Christ.

But hey... I hear that if you stay till after the end credits, they have an extra scene of everyone in Pixar laughing at us whilst rolling in money.
