Modem Driver problems

Well i got the correct driver for a conexent modem in zip format. I've tried everything but still can't get it right. It says its installed and working but it's not. Running Win98se on a P2 350 System. I looked in system information and under modem it says there are 3 files missing.. I've tried uninstalling and…

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times but still no joy.
Could it be a bust modem? Well it is a few years old.
