Capcom Vs SNK Xbox controller question.

I'm playing a good bit of Capcom Versus SNK 2: EO Live and I keep getting whupped when I go online and excuses aside I think it's down to the controller. I'm using the old original one and it just doesn't cut the mustard. I'm wondering what the best option to go with is, I know the controller S is the obvious one but I'm looking for the best possible controller I can use for the game, I've heard that the Dreamcast one is good but I'm not sure how to link it up to the XBox. Any ideas?

The Controller-S works very well with me, and is the way to go if you don't want to be spending large amounts of cash. I tried using the fat Xbox Controller on Capcom vs. SNK 2 EO and I never used it again. Its like holding a tin of ham.
Its safe to say that the Controller-S is even better than the Dreamcast's controller since all six buttons are mapped out on the face of the pad, which is great for traditional fighters. Although they are mapped backwards (unlike the Controller-F), its still easy to get used to. The D-Pad and stick are even better on the Controller-S (this is where the Dreamcast suceeds), but on a whole, the Controller-S is the most all-round pad for fighting games and I highly recommend it as an easy option.

If you can't play a fighting game without an arcade stick then you could order the Soul Calibur Arcade Stick from the US. Cool thing is it works with all three consoles, but I don't know if it works with CVS2: EO. Here's a link.

He could just order the arcade stick for the xbox instead!!

Well I got the controller S today and it's pretty good, it's not a total revolution or anything but I found it a lot easier to use. The only problem with it at the moment is that it's hard to get a decent well matched opponent online (ie as bad as I am). If anyone wants to be my sparring partner give me a shout.

Its hard to find a decent well matched partner as most people have given up on this game, besides the SS rank players. Even with the s controller i found it very hard to pull of basic moves that i could easily do with snes SF2.

    Get a HORI SC2 stick.

The original pad is awful for fighters. Whoever decided to have rounded buttons on the thing was a ****ing idiot.

I'm still getting whupped :( I lost 10 matches in a row today, the only players about seem to have B rankings and can pull off every bloody move. I'm just wondering though do people use the pad or the stick when they're playing?

I'd say most likey the d-pad (correct me if i am wrong)as SF games were designed for d-pad use. But with the americans using the AR more and more on LIVE i wouldn't be surprised if they are cheating.

Really? Damn, that sucks. What I really hate though is when people quit out of matchs when they know they're going to lose, just to keep their level high.

Roller Toaster, I don't find it particulary hard to find people at low levels. Go to "Create Match" and if the opponents who challenge you are at high levels, you can simply deny the request. You may have to wait a while but eventually, you should gain the reasonable request.

Also, master your favourite groove, they come in real handy.

Ok well the effects of the controller S are starting to sink in. I managed to win 7/20 matches as opposed to well, 1 with the old controller. I even managed to beat an SS player which was a bit of a shock. He came at me full throttle with Shin Akuma and I just kept at him with ken, ryo and that one with the bird. Somehow I landed the final blow with bird woman and he quit straight after that :( I'm pretty fond of the N groove at the moment but I've had some trouble with unlocking the bonus characters.
I managed to get Shin Rugal using the C groove so I went back and tried to get Shin Akuma with the N groove but instead I fought Rugal again. Where am I going wrong?
