Need advice on a source for 6 off Sharp 5500 PDAs for an embedded systems lab.

amazon.com have them but won't ship to Ireland!

amazon.com won't ship anything electronic to Ireland.

You could try amazon.co.uk if you want things shipped,
    but they don't have any.

Take a look here though, it might help:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3051817175&category=3728

    Seems to be quantity.

Alternatively, depending on what you're trying to achieve,
you could try the ipaq. They're much easier to get.
I have an ipaq 3660 running familiar linux with the opie frontend
and I'm very happy with it.
Just remove the PDA apps like addressbook and organiser,
and you've plenty of room for ssh client, nmap, ethereal
    and a browser. :-)
It works with wifi too and I even managed to get a GSM modem for it.

Try Expansys.com, very good uk based pda seller, its where I got mine from, and at quite a reasonable price too (compared to other sites that is).

Yeah - I got mine from expansys too. They're only doing reconditioned models at the moment though as the SL5600 has been released - but you can only get them in the states right now!

If you find anywhere cheaper - let us know!

I cracked the screen on mine and have to send it to Sharp in the UK to get it fixed (if anyone knows of somewhere here <edit>(i.e. in Ireland)</edit> that'll do it I'd be delighted to hear about it)

Yea I'd agree with niallb - grab a few 3600 series ipaqs from ebay and lob one of the linux distros at handhelds.org onto them (most support booting from a cf card too so it ain't necessary anymore to wipe your CE/PPC installation) - tres schweet! With opie on them you'll never go back to pocket pc! :)
