win-Modems are not easy jobbies to get working under Linux..

    Check out
    www.linmodems.org/

You should be ok if you need most Connexant drivers.. Otherwise I aint too sure..

Some win modems yer just screwed with .. save yerself a lot of time and hassle pick up an external serial port (not usb) modem, u'll probably get better connection speeds from it anyway.

Avoid the trust external modems. They gave me nothing but hassel.

I have an internal intel ham modem, got the drivers from linmodems.org but now it dials up and connects to my isp but the connection is dead, just sending no recieving. I turned of the firewall to make sure that was not the problem.
    Any help?

The Lucent drivers are documented, well supported and well used.

There should be no problem there.

TomTom it sounds like the dialing program you as using.

Try wvdial or the KDE dialing program.

sounds like its dropping the connection. Had that problem before with my external modem where the initialisation string won't work with the connection to my isp.

usually though its the authenication failing. As was suggested use wvdial and post up what info it throws out. That way we can see what its failing on.
