Yes, but what have you got? What do you play? Who've you got in mind? Where would you like to play? Any ideas on raising the cash for equipment? Etc.

you need to have a love of music and a desire to play it

you need to play an instrument,

then you need to find people who want to play the same music as you who also live near enough to you -

the best way of setting up a band is by getting your friends to learn to play and join you in your quest to form a punk band,

if your friends arnt up for it, you find people who do want to form a band by putting up ads in school, musical instrument shops (eg: music maker) or your local shop or on the internet (eg: boards.ie),

your ad should contain the following:

    1) what type of music you want to play and what bands you like
    2) what your looking for eg: drummer, bass player etc
    3) where you are based eg: where you hope to practice
    4) what age you are
    5) what experience of bands/gigging you have and how long you've been playing your instrument
    6) contact detailes eg: phone number and/or email address.

give your ad a big bold heading eg:

I WANT TO FORM A PUNK BAND!!

    good luck

    punk rules.

ok, i just re-read your post and see you already have people for the band so....

you also need a practice area, some where big enough to fit a drum kit, a few amps and people and with an electricity socket to plug the amps in. remember you are going to make a hell of a lot of noise so bare that in mind.

if you have people with instruments, a place to practice and your all agreed on the music you want to play, thats it...thats all you need - you've go yourself a band.

weather or not you plan on playing covers or originals, you should start with some VERY easy 3 or 4 chord punk songs (greenday/nirvana etc). It will help you get used to playing with a band.

pick about 4 or 5 songs and dont move on until youve got them perfect. even if you hate the songs and are sick of them and just want to do something different, stick with them. its the only way you'll progress. the worst mistake you could make is picking your favorite songs at the minute regardless of their difficulty and stumbling through them, changing songs every week. think carefully about the covers you choose to do.

hope that helped. good luck and have fun with it!
