Should we drop the old board?

I have no sentimental attachment to the old
board and I like this one. Do ppl think we
should drop the old (ie www.spinsol.com one)
board so that we have one place of contact?

It would be silly to have a split community and have to check both boards to get all the messages.
Cloud, if this is going to be a permanent fixture then I think we should centre on your board (I like the password protection
couldnt have been ****d to write it for mine )

It's a cool board alright - but I don't know about the 2 level-only threads. If we have some large threads going, it could get a bit messy - I remember the old board at threads that intented off the page - and had multiple sub-threads too..

oh, and separating the Quake and Quake2 boards might not be a good idea - a lot of discussion that has a common ground - such as lan parties, server problems, IGN stuff etc etc will probably be held only in one group - meaning people will have to scan both boards to get the full picture..

Well its a good point that its not multi layer..

It limits response to individual posts and only on the theme which may have moved on 5 or 6 posts..

The iol boards (which can be designed and have header etc) are mutlilayer and can have special authentication setup.

I dont want to have a rival board but I think that the allaire one has more features -

Cloud if you want to "design it" I can go with that -

It also has a framnes option which is turned off at the moment.

I have no problem with the board being "unbranded".

Ok people - Shoot which do you want ? Cloud do you want to design the look of the board ?

Or maybe move this to the soon to be active irc.iol.ie web server ? Even though that wont get multithread options...

Maybe Mutltithread is an option of the registered versio n? how much is it ? could be spread around ?

IOL is horribly slow.

I kind of like that you can have all threads in one go, but yea I can see where it will get really large. I'm sure commen sense would prevail, or it could be written to auto nest after say 10 or 20.

I agree that the Q1 and Q2 boards should be combined - it's always worth reading what those hertic Q2 players have to say...

Oh - I might be returning to active play again with a nice PII 300 and T1 line curtisy of Maynooth College....
