Not sure if this is the right forum for this...

Does anyone know any laid-back easy-going places over in Scotland (maybe with a Galway vibe) ?

    Cities, Towns or Villages/areas...

Somewhere to maybe spend a year?

    hmm all depends really...

if you want laid back then up north would probably be a good idea.

I would recommend Glasgow(most likely cause im from there..) but dont really know if thats the type of thing your looking for. Sounds as if your looking for a more dundee type place (or maybe Aberdeen..)

if i was right about the laid back thing then look into places up north, fort william/inverness/dundee/Aberdeen

probably loads more places but just cant think of them at the moment

Aberdeen is very laid back, but it does get cold and wet and horrible. Not too far off what Galway i like really :)
Its a very chilled out with a very big pub and club scene.

Although, Edinburgh might be a little bit more lively and bigger.
    why not try them all.
Although, to be honest, Im not entirely sure if you were going to take a year out, why you would go to Scotland. Surely you could pick somewhere sunnier?

thought the site was hilarious to say the least, someone posted it this morning on another forum.

Hi there. Glasgow's great! I'm from Clare, spent 5 years in Galway and have now spent 3 years in Glasgow. I didn't expect to like it since it doesn't have the best reputation, but the people are great and the pub/club/music/theatre scene is excellent. Edinburgh is prettier but less fun I think - it's only 45 minutes away on the train anyway so you can easily get there for festival shows etc.
