    The legend is gone.

    www.spurs.co.uk

It is with regret that I announce that Manager, Glenn Hoddle, is to leave the Club, with immediate effect.
Glenn and I spoke this evening. Following two seasons of disappointing results, there was a significant investment in the team during the summer, in order to give us the best possible chance of success this season.

Unfortunately, the start to this season has been our worst since the Premiership was formed. Coupled with the extremely poor second half to last season, the current lack of progress and any visible sign of improvement are unacceptable.

It is critical that I, and the Board, have absolute confidence in the Manager to deliver success to the Club. Regrettably we do not. It is not a decision we have taken lightly. However, we are determined to see this Club succeed and we must now move forward.

Glenn occupies a special place at this Club. Today's decision in no way detracts from the fact that he was one of our greatest players. He will always be welcome at White Hart Lane. I should like to personally thank him for his determination and commitment and wish him well.

We shall be thorough in our search for a new manager. It is a crucial appointment and we shall take the time necessary to make the best choice.

In the interim, David Pleat will take over as Caretaker Manager, along with Chris Hughton, as First Team Coach.

No suprise of course how many clubs has Hoddle got through?
Swindon, Chelsea, England, Saints and now Spurs and no longer than about 2 and half years at any of them I think.

They say they're in no rush to appoint a full time manager.
Wise. I thought they'd give his first team coach the job as stand-in.

They wont get O'Niell or McLiesh.

    Mike.

I thought he was given more than enough time to sort things out...this season has been woeful for them. He can have no excuses or gripes. Spurs performances have been limp at best...many would have been sacked before now. Adios.

id like to see a continental come in because quite frankly, the only home grown managers i rate are alex furgeson and , er, thats it.

Well he was totally abysmal, I'm surprised it even took them this long to sack him. Tactically he knows near-nothing, and as for man-management or motivation

Spurs record over the last 25 league matches:

    Played 25
    Won 6
    Drew 5
    Lost 14
    Points 25 (from 75)
    =relegation form.

Though what the board were doing letting him spend on three strikers during the Summer is a mystery. If they thought he was likely to go surely they should have done it pre-season, and allowed the new manager to buy the players he wanted? Now, any new manager had to wait until the transfer window to strenghten the squad, effectively the season is over.

    You can Forget Fergie.

Why not Roddy Collins? He would be interested and I hear that Tottenham supply lovely suits too.:)

at last hoddle is out, the mid table side now have a chance to progress into europe (top 6). zamora, postiga etc come in and do absolutely nothing, and the biggest mistake of all? letting an absolute legend and hero in teddy sheringham go.

i have no idea who roddy collins is. sorry.

Former Carisle unite Manager an star of Fly on the Wall RTE TV Documentary The Rod Squad where he was seen to motivated his players for a cup semi final by telling them that the Chairman would buy them all a lovely suit if the porogressed. Nothing so mundane as tactics with Roddy. Anyway it was meant a joke i,m sure some here got it.

On the spurs job i see the former Barceloina Coach has expressed an Interest. What the finances like becaus i think that will be amjor factor no matter who takes over.

Raddy Antic is indeed supposed to be one of the men being concisdered. Apparently, both Celtic and Rangers have laughed off rumours regading O'Neill and McLeish...they would though, wouldn't they...

Muppet, there's money there to spend, it just takes a bit of persuading to get Levy to open the coffers...Hoddle managed to convince him to sign three new strikers, didn't he?;)

And WWM, didn't know you were Spurs as well...balances the Rangers thing I suppose...:p
