does anyone know if an ip based internet connection sharing software package is available...due to technical restrictions i cant use the windows ip sharing (connection to sat aint on the server - dont ask!) so that rules out using 192.168.0.1 for the sharing of the net

i am going out of my head looking for it...can anyone help please

    cheers in advance

Sygate Home/Office network allows this kind of sharing.

Which version of windows - they are VERY different when it comes to IP Forwarding eg: NT workstation has a helpful button ,Win98/2k/xp require reg hacks.

You can also get free DHCP server for windows.

Analog X Proxy, does what it says on the tin.

Dead simple to use, is freeware and will do exactly what you are looking for.

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

    AnalogX - I second that.

Freeware DHCP server for windows http://ruttkamp.gmxhome.de/dhcpsrv/dhcpsrv.htm

Burried in that mess are various tips
    inc..
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\MSTCP
"EnableRouting=1" - this will allow Win98 to act as a router - not sure if the same setting is used in 2k or Xp
but typing ipconfig/all will show you if IP routing is enabled

NOTE: you can use the wNTipcfg.exe utility from microsofts site to check this (it's like winipcfg)

There's also Winroute , which I settled on after trying ICS, AnalogX, Wingate, and finding them all lacking. It's still only adequate - Windoze is just bad for routing - but it does the job.

If your "connection to sat" could be coaxed onto Linux, you would have a lot more possibilities.
