I read somewhere on boards that someone was failed and then they got onto an engineer and then he passed the line when he tested from the exchange.
There is no way i failed this test, there is only 2 phones in the house nothing else on the line im about 2k from the exchange and theres no noise on the line i have a very good line.
Also the biddy told me it could be because the exchange was upgraded that it failed, ring back in a month.
anyone know how to get hold of an engineer? I remember the post saying something about asking a supervisor, I think.

I tried to order dsl online on the iol site and it told me its not available in my area, even though it was updated 7 days ago and biddy told me it was upgraded, is the website just slow to update or what?

Ring 1901 and ask for the no. of the local engineer.

Also ask at 1901 to check your line & also verify that you are not on a carrier line.

It is good to have this verified when you get on to your engineer.

They're not supposed to give out the numbers but you can sosh it pretty easily, just tell them that the engineer gave you his number to ring when he got to the street cabinet, but you forgot it. You "can't remember his name, it might be Paul...?" ("Is it Alan?" - "Yeah, that's the guy.") If you don't get it first time, wait a minute (for them to pick up another call) and you should get another operator to try it with. Lather, rinse, repeat if necessary.

Very sneaky but i like your methods LOL

Its such a shame this is what people have to resort to with the nations main Telecoms provider but i suppose what other choice do we have

I had that problem in the summer. Trouble was they would 'say' they were testing for a second time... but what they were reaslly doing was consulting the test database.
Getting the to actually test a second time was almost impossible until I managed ot get the mobile no. of the loca engineer, an Australian guy.
He was terrific. He told me that he would take care of it and called me back a couple of days later telling me that he had updated the database for me. All has been great since.
