OSX Server Questions

Not sure if many of you guys use OSX Server but here goes.

    System Spec:

    Server:

    Mac G4 450 - 512MB - 20GB IDE - 73GB SCSI - OSX Server 10.2.6 with all security updates.

    Clients:

    iBook 14" - 10.2.6
    G4 1.2GHz - 10.2.6
    G4 Cube 450MHz - 10.2.6

    Problem:

The server is configured with LDAP Directory set to provide authentication to the clients and to store Home Directories. The Firewall is not enabled. DHCP is - Windows Services is - AFP is - SLP is.

All user accounts have there home dirs in an automount share on the SCSI drive. Unfortunately when a user logs in to any computer I get a warning that the users home dir cannot be found in the usual place. There are no devices on their desktop - e.g. hard drives CD's etc - even though the preferences for each user are set to show these devices. Safari complains that it has nowhere to store bookmarks. There is no access to the HOME icon on the toolbar of the Finder window. I can access and mount all the other shares using connect to server option but will not automount like they have been set to do !

I have set the directory access on each of the clients to look at the server.

The user is being authorised by the server so the server is being contacted.

Can anyone offer some advice on this ?

    Regards

    Tinky

Cheers Bouncer found the reason up there. Not exactly a fix more a patch up.

It seems to be something to do with OSX Server retaining the clients originally logged in user as logged in even though they are logged out. If you are logged in as the admin user on the client logging out and trying to log in as onother user wont work.

The solution is to restart the computer and login in as the ordinary user.

Interestingly the users home dir is created by logging in to the server . . it just can't be accessed until restart !!

    Thanks again
