i recently upgraded to Xp and with this i needed new drivers for my modem,

i got them and they work, but after dialing up, the modem keeps making noise while im connected to the internet,

it makes the usual noise while dialing, then on connection this noise gets a little louder and keeps going,

i tried turning the volume down in modem properties but this didnt work,

    any ideas????? please

open up ur pc and if there are any wires going from the modem to your soundcard pull them out, if you have onboard sound then pull any wires going from modem to motherboard out, if you have neither onboard sound nor soundcard then disconnect the system speaker
