NTL Programme Guide

I just had NTL Digital installed a few days ago - and on the guide there seems to be double entries listed for most of the channels, i.e. on Network 2 it would say :

    6:00pm The Simpsons
    6:00pm The Simpsons

Is there someway of fixing this ?

I was also wondering if you have the option to change the channel which plays while you are in the TV guide. My one shows ITN News every time I open the guide.

I have the NTL Silver STB (Di300 N ...or something)

My thanks to anyone who can help.

The only thing you could do to fix the problem really is to reboot the box. That should solve the problem with the guide.

Also, im afraid there is no way to change the channel showing in the mini screen in the tv guide. That mini screen was originally & always supposed to be used for previewing Front Row films, but we no longer have Front Row so they just show ITV News instead. (I can't see any reason why it has to be ITV News) BTW at one staged E4 used to be on it.

NTL originally had a stake in the ITN News Channel, as it once was. Might explain it.

the double entry in the program guide is an ongoing thing, and its something that I personally (and several of my friends) have had a problem with for over a year.

for some reason ntl claim complete ignorance as to the cause of this, but it's obviously something wrong with the software on the boxes.

I've had an engineer out twice, and the second time he changed the box for a new one which was worse than the old.

you can always complain about it, but you'll be on the phone for 30+ minutes to get through to faults (but funnily enough, if you call sales they pickup straight away most of the time) and the dumb ejits tied to the phones will give you the 'all you need to do is plug it out for a minute' speech, but it'll be back again within 48 hours.

they did an update to the EPG a few weeks back which kinda fixed it, so you only get the double entries when you move the yellow box over to the programs from the channels section.

anyway, they are a complete shower of fools and it's impossible to get anything of any use out of them with regard to this (try emailing them, you'll get nothing back if you are complaining about something).

anyway, I'll get down off the soapbox:rolleyes:

Thanks for the replies. I might try a reboot.

And yeah - the double entries only appear when you move the yellow cursor box over to the programmes section.

No probs Wheeler, I hope it lasts for you. :)

BTW is this just happening on the silver DI-300 boxes (v5.35) ?

I have the grey DI-4001 box (v5.36) & have no problems at all with the guide.

mines a boring grey Pace box, think it's v5.36 too.

pretty certain it's soley the SW rather than HW, if it's on different boxes.

Unfortunately its not restricted to Di300s - my Di4010 has the same problem quite often. And also, when this happens, there is a related problem that the "More Info" no longer works for anything after the current day. How odd.

Incidently it often happens in the evening. And when I wake up the next day, everything is alright...

Funnily enough - mine's been like this since I got it a couple of months ago - I only ever get the double entries when I cursor over to the right hand side. I'm on MMDS Digital in Galway using the silver unit, and BTW, I get no channel image in the little display box.

I could have sworn that one day last week the problem went away completely (even in the programmes section), but it soon came back anyway

One thing I spotted last night - I was watching UTV's Champions League highlights last night between 11:30 and 12:30, and after around midnight, the picture kept breaking up. Does anyone know if they drop the signal strength or bandwidth after midnight?
