    Folks,

I've got Sky Digital connected in one room, and until recently this was accompanied by Chorus analogue, which also served 2 other rooms. (Long story short - too expensive - sky digital only now).

    My plan was this:

    a) Connect the RF OUT 2 port at back of Digibox to existing co-ax "tv-point" in wall, (now out of use)

b)At junction box, take output of this point and connect, via 3-way connector - to other 2 co-ax runs.

    c) Connect each of other 2 TVs to relevant 2nd & 3rd TV points, and Hey Presto!

In case anyone is still wondering - it didn't work.
Now I'm guessing I've made an elementary error here (which may be believing that this could ever have worked) and am hoping someone here could share the benefit of their wisdom?

    Thanks,

    MR

    Hello mredmond,

There is nothing to say that this should'nt of have worked.
    Check these first:=

    1. Make sure that T.V. point where you are connecting the "rf out" on the sky digibox does not have a big square metal box (isolator) behind it.

    2. Be sure that this isolator is not connected up at the 'junction box' either.

    and finally

    3. If there are more T.V. points around the house, be sure that you have not connected these ones up instead.

Although without a DISTRIBUTION AMPLIFIER the picture may be a little fuzzy with so many points, junctions and splitter, there still should be something "watchable" there.

Have you enabled the power supply on the second RF output?. If not, enter the key sequence below to get to it.

To distribute the picture throughout the house you do NOT need to turn on the voltage on RF2. This voltage is for operating a TV Link which allows you to change channels from a different TV in a different room.

You could do damage to your equipment if you send a voltage through directly.

If it is possible you should check if there is a signal reaching th junction box. Try connecting a portable at the juction box. The quality of the cable may be affecting the signal. I assume you are using the Chorus cable, this is not the best stuff to use, but you should be able to see something.

If this is working try using a distribution amplifier. These take the input and boost it for the outputs. You will need a socket near the junction box as these require power (do not use the power option from the digibox ).

    Hope that helps.

Sorry ShaneOC, I was under the impression that you had to turn this RF Outlet on in order to use it. I stand corrected. Aplogies for incorrect information.

Thanks for the advice guys, turned out to be something simple after all.
I'm guessing I've made an elementary error

For some reason the Autostore method of tuning didn't pick-up the signal - or at least didn't Autostore it - yet when I did a manual tune of both TVs this evening, got a perfect signal on each.

    Thanks again.

ps. Isn't there a remote I can get which can operate the EPG from 2nd & 3rd rooms (without digibox, obviously)

Yes you can get a TV Link. From what you've said I am not sure if the TV link will work as it requires power through the cable, however as you have splitters the power may not get through.

You can get remote extenders in Argos which will do the trick.

To use tv links you need to replace your junction box with a t140 amp as the tv links require voltage and will not work with splitters etc.

Maybe not available or easy to find in Ireland, but there are splitters which are specifically made for distribution of digital tv signals and which do allow the current to pass - normally in a protected one direction only. I think they are made to send a power signal to an LND though, so the tv link might only work with one of the other tv's!!

MMDS "aerial" compatible splitters work as they have to pass 12V to downconvertor.

I have tried experimenting with various F-type splitters in the past but the only ones I've found to work were "Philex" ones with powerpass on one leg only. Most of the others only seem to allow powerpass in one direction only which isn't any good for Sky tvlinks.

I've also found Fringe Electronics Inductive Splitters can work too if you connect the TV with the tvlink to Thru Leg 2. (this method only allows the connection of 2 extra TVs, one of which would have tvlink)
