sry for the caps but i thought it might relief some pain i'm having

the time 7:30 i sit down to watch the irish match on sky sports 1.
20 minutes into the match what happens, my picture starts getting choppy and the sound starting to skip. as you might guess i was very annoyed at this problem ESPICALLY because a enginneer(sp.) was on to my house on thursday to solve this problem. My mum let this guy in and he said that it was the box and that we should get back on to sky??? i thought it was down to poor dish allignment myself cos it's happened to my friends aswell.

so once it happened tonight i resetted my digibox and it still happened. furious as i was cause i was missing precious football i rang sky and they basically the techie took me into the installer setup and told me to switch off the LNB and then save it and turn it back on again. it didn't work but what the person said is hold on and i stick the match on here and i can tell you the score well that was very kind of her but she was unable to help me and she booked another service call out. but get this the earilest time i can get my sky back is MONDAY THE 15TH SEPTEMBER now that is a full 6 days without football without premiership +.

it is so annoying that the first enginnear(sp.) did sweet **** all.

but she even said that they will be a credit going through my account for loss of viewing well that doesn't really help to get my match back. now i not refusing the credit it's just this sort of stuff always happens to me.

also on a good note (seems to be little of them in this post)
she confirmed that from the 1st of next month sky + will indeed scrap the 15 euros monthly fee if you subscribe to 2 premium channels.

P.S i will make a duty to ditch school when the next technician comes out to fix it i don't care if it's the leaving cert year one day wont kill me.

also do you guys think a video recording of the problem will help the technican?

I doubt it. Most of these guys are so dim they will think your video recorder is faulty.:D

The exact same thing happened to me and is still happening, the sierra enginneer came out and changed parts on the dish and re alligend it and charged us 108 euro and told us that the tree out my back is blocking the signal as well so me and my Dad started cutting down the tree where it is not in the way of the dish and it is still happening.

Will be getting back on the sky soon but have to wait till my parents come home from holiday because I will be in work all day so wont be able to let the enginneer back in.

    hi,

u think 6 days is bad ? i ditched sky over a year ago now and got an ftv card from the uk but i was subscribed to their film world package for a full 12 months. about 3 months into the sub , i turn on the box one evening to get "no sat signal is being recieved" checked obvious points then called sky. blah blah went through fault finding crap eventually i'm told the box is dead.

so do sky arange to have a new 1 courriered out to me as a paying customer? hell no. i have to bring it to my nearest "sky aproved service centre" which is 20 miles away!. took a morning off work brought it in.asked the guys when i would have it back. "few days max" great. no chance of a loan box i ask? not worth ur while m8 i'm told.

week later nothing happening.ring the service centre.havent even looked at it.great.2 weeks pass.ring again. "the engineer thinks its the tuner , be a few more days".

looked round the net and found that failure of the zif tuner is very common in pace sky boxes.rang donberg , in stock , £30ire at the time including express post.

long story short (too late!) 5 weeks later i get both a new pace box and my monthly statement from sky!! phoned them up and complained.how can u charge me when i had no box etc ?? no satisfaction.

u would think thats it wouldnt u? not so. 4 months later "no sat signal...." ordered tuner from donberg on a monday had it wednesday morning took 30 minutes to fit been fine ever since.

    the end.

    jack.

    hi Tony,

its not an easy job if u dont have the right tools. its a surface mount can.i brought it into work and used a hot air pencil to remove the old 1 , tinned the pads 14 if i remember and used the air pencil to reflow the joints with the new unit on.as i say only possible with the proper tools but u could probably get a friendly tv repair shop to do it while u wait for a few bob. beats 5 week wait and paying sky also!!

    cheers.

If only it was plug-in! It would life a lot easier for everyone! Sadly, it's not the case.

jackbauer, if you don't mind my asking, how much did Dönberg Electronics charge for the tuner?
