RTE and series links

Below is an extract I received from RTE regarding its support of series links on the sky EPG. Since each broadcaster controls the signals for series links and that accurate series links are required for automatic Sky+ recording, I thought people might like to see how our national broadcaster is currently supporting these signals.

RTÉ provides links on the Sky satellite system between
7pm and 11pm only. This explains why there are no links
for the Home and Away programme, which starts at 6.30pm.

RTÉ is actively looking to extend series linking and
hopes to begin to increase this service over the next
    few months.

For your information, the BBC has invested a lot of
money into an in-house programme series links system
which is managed in-house. RTÉ has not the manpower nor
the finance to support a similar service at this time.

RTÉ uses a company in England to provide the series
links for its programmes and information is exchanged
by e-mail and telephone. At the moment the service is
    just for the 7pm-11pm period.

I hope the above is of some assistance in explaining
the series links system currently in operation here in
    RTÉ.

if someone told me that on the street i would consider it a joke. why not go the whole day if it is emails and phonecalls that get them there

It is a shame that they do not have it set up for 24 hour service, however it is better to have the peak times availabe rather than nothing at all.

It is only recently that Channel4 (and E4) introduced series links for their channels. They had no series links at all.

I have never really noticed a problem with RTÉ's series links until I read this. :D

On the subject of series links -what is the position of TV 3 and series links. I regularly record Corrie but finf there can be qiute a big time overlap. What ie their policy with series linking?

I'd be rather impressed if they managed to get the EPG info for the Simpsons matched to the episode they're showing more than once a fortnight, let alone getting the series links going properly. I'm not knocking them for the sake of knocking them - it rather annoys me.
